Its hard to peg the type player he was because he was just so unique. Could defend at a high level (started and won a UCL final at CB), had basically an unlimited passing range, could dribble like someone half his size, could outpace pretty much any other central midfielder, and could finish like a striker. He wasn't always up for it, but when he was he was one of the best players I've ever seen
