(Southampton fan) Both fonte and lambert came through league 1 to the prem with us and despite the money spent kept their places in the first team. Fonte was a great leader and captain, lambert scored goals for fun for seasons on end until he left us. Both were aging as they left, and fonte is now playing very well for lille in France. Tbf on his day Andy Carrol is brilliant. Had he not have had so many injuries he would have been a massive player for Liverpool. Some of the goals he’s scored are absolute worldie. Ashely Young was not OVERHYPED back then. He were a great player compared to his club in Aston Villa. He made 43 assists alone in the PL while playing for Aston Villa, which Aston Villa have not been able to replace at all .. not even close since Ashley Young changed club to Manchester United! Only players like Lampard, Fabregas and Nani made about the same amount of assists in the PL within those years.
