But if you're for example bi-racial but can pass as white, you're that ethnicity (in this case, black). I wonder if you can apply the same thing to Logic (the rapper) for example. He appears really caucasian but his father's black; if you didn't even know of his parentage one would call him white. I guess my question is at what point can you use either classification interchangeably or be one or the other (like, if you're biracial at what point can you call yourself white before someone else corrects you and say "nah mate you're the other thing.") This isn't a criticism to your correction, I'm genuinely curious at the thought about how labels operate when it comes to mixed parents and the degree of melanin with which the kid presents.

You’re entirely correct when it comes to the states too: because slavery was such a big fucking deal that we haven’t gotten over yet, it seems we wear the slavery like a badge of (dis)honor, constantly bringing it up again when it should just be a blot that happened, and rectified for the better. Because of that, even though the States has a multicultural population, it stil comes down to the binary of white and black, with little “exceptions” as I call it if you’re anything other than those two. And when it comes to politics or general social-cultural speak, you’ll find that dynamic occur which imo is outdated. That point notwithstanding, I find that people identify as “mixed race” over here and Canada when their ethnicity is not easily explained, all over the place, or it’s not “as interesting” to identify as. Example for all three: “I’m 25% Spanish, 45% Hungarian, 35% indigenous”; “I’ve got some part Bulgarian, Cambodian, Korean, and Pakistani;” “I’m some kind of African but also Spanish-German.”
