It's heavily implied here that besides Kate and Steven, Jeremy the preacher was probably one of the last people to go in the village. He probably didn't understand the light, but knew enough that it took his people and was coming for him. He probably was my favorite person in the story and it was sad to see him go.

I still think about this moment to this day. I also still think about the moment with the mother. When I first played this game, I loved it but I knew it was janky and strange...but now it sits deep in my psyche. The soundtrack to this game brings a warmth to my life every time I hear it. This game was art. I will always be grateful for it. This is the moment I knew something about this game was powerful.

This game can only be described as art. The story was phenomenal and sits with me to this day. It's always great to see that a game can do so much with only storytelling. No flashy fights or ramped up suspense, but just having a story to tell. I don't tear up easily but this had me shedding a few into my Chivas.

Almost like a portrait of the struggles of someone who is religious in the sense of wanting to find peace and not judgement. Kind of reminds me of Dostoevsky's Brother's Karamazov with Alexei Karamazov striving to see and love the world.

Beautiful game. I wasn't sure what I was doing the first playthrough. When I started a playthrough to collect trophies is when the story started to make sense to me. I'm glad nothing was spoonfed to the player which made the exploration worthwhile. But that painstakingly slow movement is a huge turn off.

Before he went into the church, was he talking to the pattern, and knew it had finally come for him too?

I think that's the implication, yes. I think part of his initial despair was that everyone was gone and he was the only one left. But then when he sees the pattern, he calms down slightly as he realises his time has come, hence him saying: "Come on then, let's get this over and done with".

Maybe you should explore the first part of the town more and then come back. Cos I had this too, I must have gotten to the church too early and nothing happened, then I moved to other chapter and missed this scene.
