I work on diesels for a living ( mtu series 4000 and 396 mostly )- use some loctite 5910 spread thinly around your ports. That will solve the issue

I use copper silicone for exhaust gaskets, much less problematic as long as you don’t smear the hell out of it when you install them

Hey Brew, I totally get the pain of doing header gaskets. Used to have to all the time. One day, I upgraded to Mr. Gasket header gaskets, and proform locking bolts. Never had an issue again. (Knocks on wood) awesome instructions on the banner install btw. 🤘

Cometic for the win! I installed GT40 heads back in 2021 and used cometic header gaskets and have never had a problem. I have been wanting to get the Motorsport banner for a while, but hesitated, I think I will pull the trigger now, looks awesome!

One thing that is pretty important is to start the bolts, all the bolts several threads before tightening them all down. At least with my cheap pace setters you have to.

I use annealed copper headder gaskets with locker bolts and never have a leak..The copper gaskets are reuseable too but need to be re-annealed.before re-use. On one of my mustang I was running the stock heads but ported and when I cut the slots it caused exhaust leaks at the end bolts..

I am 50 and agree with you on the noise, I wanted to do an offroad exhaust and 2 chamber Flow Masters years ago and I'm so glad I didn't. That's how you know you're getting old. I have a 93 convertible with the factory mufflers and once the car heats up the exhaust is plenty loud. Do you agree that when you put a blower or turbo on a car you get more oil leaks? I worked at a Benz dealer a while back and years ago they started slapping turbos on everything to reduce the engine size but improve gas milage, it seemed as the cars aged the ones with turbos usually had more oil leaks. Love the channel.

Red high temp rtv on the gaskets both sides, let em set over night installed, you wont have leak problems again.

You think that’s tight? Try a 408 with a Ti, afm bypass same as yours, ac,ps, hydroboost. I also located my catch can my the air filter in the fender well. The intake takes care of the vapor smell.

What type of gasket did you use? I've replaced my header gasket like 3 times and am constantly getting another leak. Beginning to wonder if my headers are warped.

Just being honest, it's not the kind you want to use. Even if a person has warped headers and corroded cylinder head surfaces "Remflex' are the ones you want The are soft and thicker so will literally impregnate themselves to the surfaces. Once they get torqued even with standard bolts they won't go anywhere. If the engine comes out often it's not the best since they need some elbow grease to take them off. I know they are popular around here since our parts stores even carry them along with Amazon. They are about 10$ more vs standard crappy blowout gaskets lol

I definitely still enjoy the sound of an American V8, but at 48 yrs old now, I don't want to hear it all day every day. Sadly, I've never been able to get on board with any 4 or 6 cylinder exhaust unless they are as quiet as possible. They sound like nails down a chalkboard. Regardless of brand.
