Everyday Essentials--Cathy Johnson's traveling art supplies

We all love to see what other artists consider essential--this is in my everyday sketch kit that goes with me everywhere. I also have watercolors and an assortment of ink pens and a pencil or two, as well, but then don't fit in the tin!

Very clever cutting down the larger brushes and sharpening the opposite ends. Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that? LOL

Another great little tools video. I especially loved the old waterman nib suggestion. That's a great one I'll have to try out with so many old fountain pen nibs lying around. Thanks!

+wondermachinedc, thank you! The rusty or corroded nibs do work best, since the watercolor doesn't all run immediately off. I've sanded newer nibs to roughen them, or hold them in a flame for a few moments to do the same thing.

Oh, that's good to know. I have some broken safari nibs that should work and some different sizes to try out. Have you ever used an waterbrushes? The Japanese waterpens? Love those for out and about painting.
