'Our Millie's Chocolate & Orange Cookies' - Veganised:
250g Plant butter, softened
50g Caster sugar
100g Light muscovado sugar
300g Self Raising Flour
2 Tbsp Soy milk
175g Vegan orange flavour chocolate, roughly chopped
50g Pecan nuts, roughly chopped
Method:
Preheat oven GAS 4 / Fan oven 160 and line 2 baking sheets with baking paper. Beat together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour and milk until well combined. Add the chocolate and nuts and mix well. Divide the mixture onto the baking sheets to make 18 cookies! Bake for approx 20 minutes until golden around the edges. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire wrack to cool completely. Enjoy!

Hello Vanessa, How lovely to see you are going to make something with the pressed flowers. Do you have a project in mind? I really enjoyed the music you played as you were making the cookies. It was very appropriate! You must have such a steady hand to paint those tiny flowers onto the wooden pegs. I would have smudge and smeared everything all over the place... They look so pretty. As for the Tilda fabric, well I was delighted to get a close up of it as you were cutting it in preparation for your Kantha quilt. You have chosen such beautiful colours and designs I cannot wait to see the finished item. I have been sat here sewing my hexies together whilst watching the video. Hi there, Sophie, awww thanks so much for your lovely kind words this evening - it really means a lot to me 😘 Gosh, your cracking on with your hexie quilt, how's it coming along, I can imagine it's looking beautiful? Thank you, I'm so pleased with the mix of Tilda fabrics, they all seem to just sit together wonderfully! I'm planning to make some greeting cards with the flowers I've pressed, I've made lots of cards with flowers in the past and I'm hoping the petals dry just as I imagine for my creations - fingers crossed! I loved the music too 'Puttin on the Ritz', it felt a little more upbeat and apt 🥰 🤣😂 I'm quite surprised I didn't make a mess of the flowers on the pegs too, it was quite a miracle 🤣😂 Luckily there's not a lot of skill involved to make them 🤩 I love seeing what our group has been making and a baking too, and I can't wait to one day see your hexie quilt - Exciting! I'm drying flowers from my garden here in the US while catching up on Chelsea . Hanging peonies, lavender and roses in my dining room. So much content and I’ve picked up tips along the way while watching your very cosy vlog. I have especially enjoyed the flower pressing and the cookie baking, including the tip of using an ice cream scoop ( I usually use my hands !! ) and putting a jar inside an old jug for flowers 👍 Have a great week Venessa and “thank you” 😊

Thank you regarding my clay bowl, I'm really happy with how it turned out particularly as I'd never used clay as a medium before!! I did a little research before making my bowl, and apparently you need your clay to dry slowly, and not use anything to speed up the process otherwise it can crack!! (I don't know if this helps with your issue?) Also, I used Das clay, I'm unsure if other brands react differently!!! Furthermore, another subscriber gave me a top tip last week that is to regularly turn your work around on a rack during the drying process to minimise warping!! I'm going to try this next time I make coasters, as mine did warp slightly!! Hi Vanessa. Your polka dot bowl came out great. No baking for me for a while, as my husband and I are going sugar free and refined carbs free for three months, just to give it a go and see if we really miss it. I don’t have a big sweet tooth so I find the giving up the whole sugar thing easier than my husband, which he struggles with. Three weeks in and I do find giving up my twice weekly sourdough bread, pretty tough though. Your cookies were a visual feast….ha ha. I loved your Mad Hatter/ March Hare teapot , so charming……who makes it?

Hi there, Raewyn, thank you for your lovely message today, as always 😘 Oh my goodness, much respect to you and your husband for embarking on a 3 month sugar and refined carb free diet!!! I know a little from my own experience of doing this, as I followed David Gillespie's, 'Sweet Poison' plan for a while!! It's really frightening how much sugar is also in savoury foods, keeping us all addicted!! Also, when you stand back and really take a moment to look at all the temptation we're surrounded by daily in the Western World, it's an absolute shocker!! I could go on and on, but I'd start to get political!!! But, I did come to love using Spelt flour as an alternative for making pastry, it has a really lovely nutty healthy texture! Also, I don't know if you've seen it but there was a longitudinal study years ago called, The China Project'! It focusses more on veganism, but it certain applies to sugar too!! Another eye opener! You'll have skip pass my bakes for a while and focus on the crafts 🤩 Thank you, I'm glad you like my bowl,! It's a little rudimental for my first try, but I'm happy with it too 😃 Aww, my Alice in Wonderland Teapot, thank you, it was a gorgeous gift from my daughter! She bought if from Whittard Of Chelsea, and I think it's still in stock for £40!! I've also got the teacups and saucers for a proper Mad Hatter tea party!!
