WEEKEND WOGAN 10th ANNIVERSARY SERIES - Show 34/35
12.48pm, live on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, 12 December 2010… 'Everyday Of My Life' written by American singer/songwriter Sharon Robinson and recorded by Aaron Neville in 1995.
For my ‘Aperitif’ on this penultimate ‘Weekend Wogan’ show, I chose to perform solo at the piano, a song by one of my absolute favourite artists, Aaron Neville, taken from his beautiful album, 'The Tattooed Heart’.
I was working in piano bars in Norway when this album came out and I loved it so much I bought all 15 CD copies in the local shop and on my return, regardless of their taste in music, I gave them as gifts to friends. It’s the only time I’ve ever done that with an album, to that extent. I think I can safely say that one recipient, one of my dearest and best friends, the brilliant actor and singer, Alex Andreas, loved ‘Everyday Of My Life’ quite a lot as he asked me to sing it for him and his gorgeous wife Monica at their wedding as their first dance in 1999.
This performance was the second and last time I’ve sung this song in public. A really beautifully written love song and the last solo performance I gave on ‘Weekend Wogan’. ❤️
