Great video mate, love the varieties of macros you have going on, can't believe how well the botryocladia has taken off. Really hope I can get my aquarium looking as good 👍

Thank you. It's taken me a while to get it like that and I'm not confident how long it will stay that way!

You should try to collect some Rainbow Wrack, I would love some but I don't know if I can even find it in America. It's so beautiful! I know it can be found on the coast in Cornwall, not sure where you are located.

I vote you do a more in depth video on macro + corals tank. That turns out to be rather tricky, balancing macro algae and coral nutrient needs without causing nuisance algae explosion. Thanks.

I'll look into it

You are the king of macroalgae 👑 , thanks for share your videos man. My first saltwater tank will be a macroalgae scape. I live in Italy , when i need it you can ship me some macroalgae ?

Best collection of macroalgae in the uk. I have been toying with the idea of going to the seaside and collecting some seagrass for a planted saltwater tank as it is a true plant rather than a macroalgae and can root feed. Combined with a deep dirt/sand cap substrate i think it could work as a very low maintenance refugium system that could work better than macroalgae and wouldnt need ferts, similarly to how freshwater walstad systems work. Where the substrate becomes a nutrient bed for the roots to feed from, which in turn eliminates nitrates from the water column and creates a more stable and healthy system overall. I'd like to also see if it helps coral growth at all. Have you ever had any seagrass growing in your tanks? Ive looked on ebay for it but no dice.
@EverydayAquarist3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have never tried seagrass because it's not imported from tropical regions due to it needing different licences to corals and macroalgae. UK seagrass might be protected which is why nobody has it for sale or harvests it. Also it's adapted to colder water so I'm not sure how it would do in a tropical system
@aisians4353 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayAquarist True, i have no idea how seagrass from the UK would adapt in a tropical system honestly. I dont know how hardy it is and i cant find any reference online of somebody using it in an aquarium. My instinct tells me it would probably not fare well but its worth a try. The only other option would be packing an aquarium out with mangrove trees which could get a similar result but wouldnt be anywhere as easy/cheap or fast growing. A bit silly that corals can be ripped from their natural habitat and sold on the open market but seagrass cannot. I understand in the context of the UK as it is dyng out here but from tropical climates there is no reason not to export it.
@EverydayAquarist3 жыл бұрын
The reason is the importers would need a photosanitory license which they won't pay for just to import seagrass

I want to do a brackish setup 1.007. Is there any macroalgae that do good around that gravity? Love the videos
@EverydayAquarist2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure but you could try caulerpa prolifera and Ulva as people have used them in brackish before

I totally appreciate your excellent efforts. I just started my first Saltwater tank. The tank will be a quarantine for a larger Saltwater tank, I will start in the future. Thanks again. I have one small question about Salinity. What is the reading you use for Macro-Algae and corals?
@EverydayAquarist3 жыл бұрын
I use the same standard salinity between 1.024 and 1.026.

what is the temp of your macro algae tanks ?? I keep my tanks at 26-27 degrees Celsius that is around 80 ish Fahrenheit is it okay or do I need to lower them and are red algaes harder than greens ? I really want to buy a red gracelerious algae but am scared that it would melt in 2 days
@EverydayAquarist3 жыл бұрын
I aim for 24-26c. Reds have slightly different needs to greens but can be kept together
@lkapitan82323 жыл бұрын
What nitrate and phosphate levels do you keep in those algae tanks, thanks.
@EverydayAquarist3 жыл бұрын
10 nitrate + 0.5 phosphate ish
