I totally agree I did an experiment on my salt tank years ago and add some Flourish Excel and it killed a lot of the tank. That said works great on my co2 pumped planted tank.

It's very interesting. I started my marine tank also with lava rocks. I had them already from my Brackish tank, which now went full marine. And everybody says, i can't use them, they realise toxine and so on, i need to 100% reef rocks or live rocks, otherwise it's Not a marine tank. Long story short, i am running this Setup now a little over a year, and macro algae and corals are growing very good. Also i got a high power freshwater led over my tank.

Great video ,very comprehensive. But one question I have is that I was growing Dragons breath {gracilaria}and it went sexual , and the main plants melted ,but now I have small tufts of red everywhere on my rock work. {I actually quite like it ,and it glows a nice reddish orange under blue light} The addition of some turbo snails is keeping it in check ,but I'm wondering if you know what it takes to trigger it to go into full blown vegetative growth again? I've looked on line and there is not much info that I can find.

Hey, would you recommend a freshwater pro Aquarianer that's highly interested in Saltwater to start with a macro alge tank? I don't want fish maybe just some crabs or nudibranches?

Great video! Do you test iron level?
@EverydayAquarist2 жыл бұрын
Nope. The tests are too expensive and not very accurate. You can tell by the algae colour

Is all that dark hardscape lava rock? I don't want my next macroalgae tank to look like a reef, so I'm hoping for an alternative to live/dry rock.
