When a private KZbin channel can achieve shots that rival or equal the tracking shots that used to take NASA a custom modified AAA turret with massive telescopes mounted, it really speaks to both the incredible technology available now and the effort you and your team put into this! Yeah! Team Tim's footage from the Artemis I launch were an order of magnitude better than NASA's own. Considering how much FOD there must've been, it's just amazing how steady the OTHER 24 engines were. I would like to point out that there was still thrust vectoring being done well into the spin, so the hydraulics were at least partially working. The tracking and the image is just WOW! But now that the euphoria is gone, I just felt sad when I watched Starship spin out of control. It's fun and it's KSP like and everything, but also, it's such a beautiful rocket, one that we all watched being built from day one, it's sad it had to be terminated. Still amazing footage, Tim!

That object caught my eye too. On the first viewing I though it looked almost like an engine bell but I don't think so after replacing that section a few times. I do think it is some kind of equipment and not a concrete chunk though since it looks like some kind of flexible line attached to the object. Stage 0 definitely needs some major improvements.

Fantastic footage and editing! The segment with the audio synced to the RUD was my favorite for sure. I love the excited voices and it gives me goosebumps to hear all the enthusiasm, but hearing the just raw sound of the rocket with nothing else... next level. Cheers to you and your team, Tim!!!

It wasn't a disaster - did anything outside of SpaceX get damaged, no. Its experimental rocketry, things aren't expected to work 1st time. Falcon 9 didn't and even blew up on the pad and now look at it.
@dh88k
@dh88k Жыл бұрын
@@theneonbop Stop pretending it was not! A failure doesn't imply the amount of devastation to the pad, other infrastructures and environment. Mostly NASA has done all the heavy lifting paving the way to space travel enabling the private sector to operate profitably and safely. This is not trial and error but bad decision driven by ego. The flight self-molested from the moment the engines fired, very little useful data will come out of this.

Mine too. At just around 11:02 the gas cloud expanded *at least* 3m (could be as much as the full diameter of 9m) radially away from the surface of the booster in 1 frame. Assuming this is 30fps, and 1.25 speed looks like realtime, so 1f/30f/s = 0.033..s = 33ms/1,25 = 26ms per frame -> 9m/26ms = 337,5 m/s = 1215 km/h.

They will surely improve the FTS design. Maybe put another couple of charges near the engines to make sure it terminates near something "explodey" not in empty tank sections..
@DanielRichards644
@DanielRichards644 Жыл бұрын
the more I rewatch the more convinced I am the booster ran out of LOX, the booster without a way to maintain pressure in the LOX tank then succumb to the forces and tore in half (insert leaked photo from starship foward flap cam) then a second or 2 later the ship FTS activates and blows it..

It looks like to me it was almost exactly a minute after activation to the rocket was destroyed. That's a bit scary if needed at a lower altitude! I'm sure that is something being improved as we speak

What a wonderful example of how much stupidity will be ignored just because someone has money. This was a disaster predicted from the beginning but all the teen fanboys were more than willing to risk OUR state for YOUR super hero ambitions. Musk needs to clean up the mess, put everything back the way it was and get out, never to come back.
