What other "allied ships" helped during the attack on the enemy command vessel? Where did they come from? When? Did the just disappear during the enemy withdrawal? When the enemy was regrouping at a nearby star system, weren't they available to again help? Now you contact nearby civilizations for help? So many holes in the story.

Yeah during the communications with the enemy, I would have simply said, "You've forgotten one small detail. This single ship has killed enough of your fleet to make you desperate, and there are hundreds more of us on the way!" Granted, there are no more human ships on the way, but the bad guys do not know that!

@@cab8866 That's why I specifically named Kirk. Anyway, the story was poorly edited and written. I love how all these stories treat distance between star systems as a voyage of minutes. BTW, if you like sci-fi space combat no one does it better than David Weber in his Honor Harrington books.
