Poly Bridge 3 Part 19 - if you want to beat this level with half budget, you may have to use a car to support a car. It's a super cool solution, but also cheese. You're not going to get that to work in real life. So, I set out on a journey to only use $25,000 to create a solution that actually mirrors real life. Let's see how far I got.

yeah it's maybe the hardest half budget one he's done so far, and personally i had a lot more trouble with this one than the one where he did a massive swing (VT-10), but either way both those levels are leagues ahead in difficulty than most of the others he's done under half budget.

I finally bought the game. I've been going for minimum stress rather than minimum price, because it seemed like the most responsible way to build a bridge. But that got me doing research, and it looks like where I live bridges require a safety factor of about 1.4 for heavy use. That means about 70% stress in polybridge terms. As real engineers are tasked with providing a safe product while also being responsible with funding, I plan on going on a quixotic quest to beat the game with minimum budget while staying under 70% stress. There's no leaderboard for me, but that's ok

@@rasmust8044 the safety factor is considered on top of rated capacity, not regular use, which could be much lower. In polybridge it's reasonable to assume the vehicles that drive on it are a center of mass approximation of the rated capacity. So safety factor would apply on top of that.

It's pretty wild that the materials have enough tensile and compressive strength to stand independently like this. I would have assumed that the cheapest "proper" solution would be a plain bottom tension design, or maybe even a rock support.

I noticed in this game every material seems to stretch quite a bit except rope which doesn’t seem to stretch at all. Because of that usually what happens is the rope takes all the weight and the wood or steel is doing less work.

No I think you misunderstood what cheese means cheese is doing something unintentional that the game devs don't intend. Like the falling roads and spring cannons. Making a jump, stranding the cars and having gaps is perfectly fine and the devs have no issues with it. Now is it up to irl code oh absolutely not but that doesn't make it "cheese"
