The very first release of Dissidia recently turned 12 years old! I wanted to celebrate the occasion by revisiting the final boss that surely made it's mark on people way back on PSP. Doing this with every playable character was certainly an entertaining examination of the game. Coming from Duodecim, a lot of things are different. Critical damage is insane, bravery break bonus is outrageously huge, chargeable HPs can be cancelled with EX mode, Emperor doesn't have a midair Flare HP, no assist or ground dash, EX mode activation has a high priority hitbox around the character, Exdeath's Omni Block doesn't protect after a successful guard and Garland has an infinite. In the midst of all this madness, Squall's "Golden Combo" appears to still be a thing and Chaos' AI reads inputs as always.
That made some of these fights a bit of a slog. I tried to showcase some things the characters are capable of in this version, but as I didn't want to make a tool assisted superplay montage, I had a lot of consistency issues with Chaos' behavior as well as my own execution of reactions to said behavior when presented with the opportunity. I don't think I did every character justice or showed every possible combo, but I also realise that if I wanted to exhibit all there is to this game I wouldn't have retried the Chaos fight hundreds of times. At the end of the day the light was restored and I hope this video sheds some light on what this game was like!

Now that was a fun trip down memory lane. Who knew that a god of chaos would have a weakness to bronze toes? Also noticed you struggling with Emperor against him. Is that a bad match up, or do you just not click well with Emp?

If all Chaos did was Divine Punishment, it would be a rather bad matchup for Emperor in this game as his only aerial HP is Starfall. You probably noticed, but his AI has no idea how to deal with Thunder Crest and I didn't want Emperor's fight to just exploit that. I try to go for a bit of variety at the expense of efficiency at times and sometimes that ends up costing me a few hits. Eating Demonsdance in phase 2 was all on me though.

I noticed the desire for style and variety when you decided to stall him out with Kefka just to finish with Light of Judgement. It actually made it pretty enjoyable even for the few moments where I saw some weird plays nobody would make if they just wanted to win.

@@DyxoXinoro I really wanted to end the last phases with an ex burst for cinematic closure. The temptations for running amok with ex mode and setting up the meter for an easy ex burst certainly clashed there, haha! With all that said, I wouldn't consider any of the mages my strongest characters. Kinda comes with the territory of putting majority of time into Jecht, I suppose.

キャラクターの原作ネタがある物 ウォーリア ・EX技フィニッシュ直前の構えポーズはFCのパッケージイラストと同じ オニオンナイト ・EX技「忍術」で使用する手裏剣以外のアイテムはFFⅢで実際にある物。 ・相手が暗闇の雲の時は原作同様、暗闇の雲がラスボス戦と同じポーズを取る。 バッツ ・EX技「魔法剣二刀流乱れ打ち」で出ている頭の星は原作のジョブを全てMASTERすると付いた物。 ・突入時のチョコボの鳴き声は原作での相棒「ボコ」の声であり、背景の割れる演出もボコの足跡の形。 ・魔法剣二刀流乱れ打ちのモーションは原作で「魔法剣」を使った時の再現。 エクスデス ・EX技「宇宙の法則が乱れる！」の突入モーションは原作で最後に戦う時の体勢と同じ。 多いので、とりあえずこの辺りで😅

今も思うんだが、何でラスボス戦の曲が大して盛り上がらん曲なんだろうな？ FFXVとかの現代風な世界観なら合うだろうけど、DFFの雰囲気に合ってないぞ。 変にロックぶち込みたがるFFのスタッフってマジで何なんだよ。
