Really thinking about changing my upload date to Thursdays, not that anyone would notice but me. 🤔😂 ANYWAYS... if you want more advice on how to 'make it' as a creator, definitely check this video out. There's tons of overlap, but tons of extra nuggets. ➡ kzbin.info/www/bejne/maqmqailpN6indU

The problem is that content creators think they are influencers and influencers pretend they are content creators. These are two distinct jobs. One creates things I need, the other creates the background to sell a product. The difference is like reading a book on cooking and watching a wonderful TV commercial selling you a book about cooking.
@CreatingwithKaya
@CreatingwithKaya 6 ай бұрын
Ooh this is so fair-I’ve been meaning to do a breakdown of the different “terms” for a long time. But there is so much overlap now because things got so intertwined, where you kinda now have the same person BOTH writing the book AND doing the commercial. And because most people now call themselves content creators simply to avoid the I word.

Such an important point about not deserving engagement 👏 I talk to Pablo about this a lot… more often than not we need to reflect on our content, it’s not the audience’s fault

Glad YT recommended your video! Been watching YT for years and have noticed the changes in some creators I’ve followed. Feels like the actual video subject or vlog is an afterthought to the sales pitch.

I loved what you shared about humility. This is truly connected to that fact that so many creators seem to be stuck in their main character syndrome era which can be so offputting.

Phewwww this. I really understand people's need to gain self confidence and the empowerment they might feel in the 'main character energy' statements... but I feel it's a fast track to isolation. 🫠

Great video! Like you said, people really do want to see creators succeed when they present themselves as genuine and authentic instead of trying to build a presence only to sell something. I have no problem using (or even going out of my way to) use affiliate links from creators whose content I enjoy and watch regularly and have built a genuine online presence/community, but I would not from someone whose videos feel like a sales pitch. On a separate note, would you consider making a video about building/growing a blog and how that fits into your strategy? I haven’t found many creators who talk about social media + blogging, and a lot of content about blogging specifically seems heavily geared towards “best (insert product)” product list websites that are focused on affiliate income only but have mediocre content.

Oooh I’ve actually been thinking of how to blend it back into my content here, so I’m glad to hear you’d be interested!! For me my blog is moreso about maintaining a corner of the internet that I own, and is great for evergreen resources, but I know I’m GREATLY underutilizing it. So I think a lot of my content might be more from a ‘documenting’ point of view, of me trying to scale it up and be more consistent etc!
@augustpineworkshop
@augustpineworkshop 6 ай бұрын
@@CreatingwithKaya Ah yeah that makes sense! I would definitely still be interested in that type of content. I’m just getting started with my blog, but when I saw some of the CPM numbers that bloggers bring in I realized it would be a missed opportunity to not at least start building something basic, even if it’s not my focus until later down the line. Seeing your workflow and process with blogging would definitely be helpful!

MAH NOTES: * Sexism - yes, but unless the demographics have significantly changed, I've thought that there were always more women successful in the creator economy than men, but that may have changed with this current wave of video content. (And even then, so many of the really popular names tend to be men, so despite the sheer number of women out there, there still being a glass ceiling is pretty insane, but there you go.) * You know my feelings - it's all about storytelling. The stories I'm scripting for KZbin will be the things I've come to understand as a 40-year-old married dad of two who's trying to fit as many minutes of creation as I can in my rather intense world, with the hope that younger creators or peers who are my age can see ways that they can chase after their dreams even when the world tells them that they can't. If it eventually attracts sponsorships, I need to make sure they fit in the right way and I don't spend all my time doing that instead of telling stories. It'll be a fun balance to keep! * I hear you on AI. I mean, let's be honest; it took almost 20 years of me consuming KZbin to really get behind the idea of where I fit into this world, but that just goes to show you that storytelling can fit in any medium. I'm convinced that despite how much AI is weaving into our world, humanity still has an appeal (like you said), and I look forward to sharing stories and experienced that I hope will serve others. * Thanks as always for the content on the industry! Looking forward to getting back into it sooner than later 😂

**Yesss I really want to do an unpacking of the sexism *in* and *towards* the space. I do think it is definitely still dominated by women, and that's part of why it's so looked down upon as a frivolous/vapid path. ALSO men tend to be recognized for the *thing* they do over just being called (or dismissed as) an influencer. And if their thing is truly vague you are more often to see the title like 'thought leader' etc. And like you say the people more globally recognized on KZbin is overwhelmingly men. ** Hehe as always so excited for your stories, and I really do think storytelling is key, it's what makes people care about you as an individual creator. I think that's also where a lot of 'educational' creators grow stagnant or burn out, enough of their story went into things. It's a goal of mine to try to infuse more of it on this channel. 🤞🏽 **AI--yeah.. hahah I think if anything I'd be worried about it eliminating certain roles. Like I don't need anyone to rough cut my videos anymore because AI does that--people have talked about AI video coming soon to eliminate stock video. But the whole story and human side? meh. ** Haha Casey I truly feel like you're still here! Maybe that's because I get your updates though, which I am ever so grateful for. 😂

Yess it reminds me of how I had to shift my blog a bit to really focus on personal opinions. Before I could do a well researched article answering pretty basic commonly-asked questions… but now honestly AI could answer those questions quickly and easily. Doesn’t mean blogging is dead or anything, just that I had to pivot as we always do.

Ooooh I have a blog post on the topic, but spoiler alert I'm team self-hosted. 😅 ⬇️ creatingwithkaya.com/which-website-building-platform-is-best-for-you-squarespace-vs-wix-vs-wordpress/ Currently have my self-hosted wordpress blog through sitegrounds, I used to be bluehost and honestly had no problems there--it's been awhile since I wrote that blog post (it was originally on my old blog and I moved it over), and I do think a lot of the platforms have advanced since... But I'm still a fan of having full control, and haven't rally ever tried anything else. If you *do* decide to self-host, I have a very basic video on all the things you have to think about--there really isn't that much webdev too it if you get a good template: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eanLZWqIjZWse8U But I'll try to do more research on what's out there and see if a video makes sense for me to do!

Yess--I think it helps us have more clarity when taking on brand deals, like is this REALLY worth it, is it REALLY going to serve my audience? And phewww hard same, a fellow creator said to me yesterday 'you can't out-consume a creator' because it's part of our job, we can make money off buying something and creating content on it, using affiliate links, etc... And it made me think about how we may be the most susceptible to being 'sold to' because of it. 😂

Everyone hates influencers and still want to be one, Creating with Kaya. Hey. I'm back. And I'm back. And I'm back and I'm watching you again. I'm seeing you. That is half the battle right? That is what it is all about. Your content is cool. I like what you got going on. So I have you bookmarked on my pc. You are actually part of a list I made up of content creators I like. I got a list saved in my email of about 150 people. I try and go through that list once every other month and check out what's new with those people. And engage and etc. Interesting video. I like your stuff. I like when people post real videos with real topics. I like when people give an actual opinion. I like when people post stuff that I can actually write an intelligent comment on. I can't write an intelligent comment on someone eating a sandwich. I can't write an intelligent comment on someone going to Walmart or someone cleaning their house or brushing their teeth. Vlogs suck. VLogs are the worse. YT should discontinue them. They serve no purpose........................ But back to your video. I have never bought anything from a YT influencer. I come on here to be entertained. So I like the people that actually make real videos with real content. And have real topics and actually have something to say. Of course I'm a fan of artists, singers, actors, dancers and etc.................... Now there was a KZbinr I use to watch once that was promoting a movie. And I did buy the movie. So maybe that counts as me buying a product from an influencer. But that person had a really cool channel. She was more on the comic/ actor realm of content. As in she was a comedian and an actress and her channel was focused on doing skits. And then one day she was promoting a movie that she was going to be in. And I bought it. It was an independent film. It had it's own website that you had to go on to buy the film at. Also, there have been some artists on here that I have bought their singles on Itunes. There was an artist named, Jillisa Lynn. I saw her on KZbin. And I bought a few of her singles on Itunes. This was years ago, about 7 years ago. Now, I just listen to them on spotify. But spotify views still count as money. I guess. Maybe. I don't buy a lot of products from people on this platform. Although, I sometimes watch a product review. Like when I bought a camera a few years ago. I watched some product reviews to determine if I wanted to buy that camera or not. I have looked at and been influenced by product reviews. I will say that. Like camcorders, lighting, recording equipment and etc. But mainly I look at people for their content and I think people get rewarded by getting more views. Adsense adds up. I watch a lot of VladTV. VladTv only makes money from adsense. Vlad says he has a 20 million dollar company. That's what I'm trying to do. Great video! I am and I continue to be a proud subj7scriber to your channel. I am and I continue to be. I am an advocate on this platform for engaging with others and supporting one another. And returning love and reciprocating feedback. I think that kind of community on here is what we need. If there were more people like me, you might have an extra 10,000 fans and friends to your channel; right now. Extra. I truly am being sincere when I write that. Let me get half the battle too. Let me know that you see me. Who knows you might even like one of videos there.

Hello Hello! Haha it's funny you say vlogs suck, because I do enjoy *some*, but it depends on how they are structured though for me. Adsense definitely does ad up, but it really does depend on your niche--some make pennies on adsense, some millions. Thank you for sharing and for your kind words.
