It's quite noticeable that when we're chasing a goal and need extra time to score, the added time is often minimal, like just 1 minute as seen in the Madrid game. This is despite numerous fouls and Madrid players spending a significant amount of time on the ground. The maximum I've observed being added is just 4 minutes. However, when we're leading by just 1 goal and would prefer less extra time added, the referees seem to add much longer periods, such as 8 minutes, 9 minutes, or even 13 minutes.
