Cool!! Sorry if this’ll hurt your self-esteem, but I learned that piece when I was 11yo. Be careful with the legato lines and dimeundos(dunno how to spell😢),if the dimeundos are too sudden, it’ll sound like you’re ending the piece, so be careful and try to keep them subtle while also letting everyone know that you’re doing dimeundo. Use the metronome(slow)for the first 2 times you play(the start of your 40hrs)then gradually increase the tempo. I hope that you won’t have a hard time learning the third movement like I did ❤

I've been thinking about making a strong video directed at TwoSet and their viola jokes. I teach at a school and many of my violin students have been offered viola but turned it down because (and I quote) they "don't want to be made fun of" and "don't want to risk getting bullied by being told they play a sh*t instrument". I think that that's really sad, and of course the viola jokes have been around since before TwoSet had formed, but due to their constant jokes and disses of the viola they now have followers that jump at any chance to join in and make fun of the viola/violists and it's that that I have a problem with. My violin students aren't afraid of being bullied by TwoSet directly, they're afraid of that small pocket in the social media community that joins in with the jokes and so they want to preemptively NOT start playing the viola in order to avoid possible bullying. As a teacher of many years I know all too well that I personally (especially as a violist) can take a joke but young children usually can't. They don't get sarcasm. They take insults very deeply. They instead thrive from praise, and so by seeing only jokes and put-downs from TwoSet regarding the viola, the instrument is now not an option for them. Children shouldn't take social media so seriously but unfortunately they just do, we're in that sort of world. I guess my request to TwoSet would be: please don't make so many jokes about the viola OR at least share the playful insults about certain instruments around evenly. Lastly, I must share that one of my viola students (aged 8) has decided to drop music entirely and switch to sports because she couldn't deal with all the negative comments about the viola, particularly coming from TwoSet and the comments section in their videos. In the decision to give up viola, my student blames TwoSet and the people in the comments section that help "spread" negativity. Sorry for the ramble/the novel I have written. This topic is just very important for me to write about and bring to light.

Amen!!!! Thank you for bringing this to light. As a pre conservatory violinist and classical guitarist in my teens, I picked up recorder and Baroque voice in college, and now I have added Baroque flute and classical panflute as well. I am now a freelance professional recorder player and Baroque singer. When TwoSet did the video mocking recorder, I was beyond offended and felt they had really crossed the line, and although they issued an apology, I still felt it was not enough. Additionally, I feel them continuing to use a cheap plastic recorder as a frequent running gag is unacceptable and undoubtedly contributes to the negative “Hot Cross Buns” stereotype of recorder which I had to deal with when I first started out and still have to deal with as a pro now. In the same light, I feel the viola jokes are crossing the line, and if they continue, children will get turned off to the point they won’t even pick up viola ... and we already have a viola shortage. We already had one when I was in youth orchestra, in fact, and teachers were encouraging students to pick up viola because of the shortage. My mom, a conservatory-trained musician herself and my personal piano accompanist for years, told me to never ever make fun of anybody, their interests, and other instruments ... and that each instrument has its challenges, none is more important than the other, all are necessary to composing an orchestra or other ensemble, etc. She was always upset when a certain violin teacher of mine would say how the violin is the most perfect instrument of all and that piano is easier because you just hit keys .... and that is certainly not true at all when you realize you have to play counterpoint and more on piano. I myself fell for the violin is the best instrument mentality ... until I fell in love with classical guitar and started taking lessons. At first I thought a fretted instrument would be easier, but then when I discovered I had to play multiple lines, chords, do huge stretches, bar cords with the left hand index finger, right hand fingering, I was like, “Oh shoot ... this is not easy at all and I can see why they have frets!” Interestingly, some of the concepts I had to learn for classical guitar were harder than what I had to do in violin, and classical guitar improved violin. After going through five instruments plus voice now, I have the greatest appreciation for every instrument and fully realize what Mom meant that each has its challenges and thus is not inferior or superior to each other. I love them all, and I couldn’t see myself without any of them. When I was in Suzuki school, my group class classmates, who went to school while I was homeschooled and thus were in school band or orchestra, would ridicule me for only playing one instrument, making me feel inferior and that I was missing out, Consequently, I began to beg and cry to Mom for another instrument, and she responded thus: “You already have violin; I can not afford another instrument; school band or orchestra is not really learning to play an instrument; and if you wish to learn another instrument, you have to get proficient on violin first, and that next instrument must be affordable.” I hence never expected to get lessons on another instrument, so when Mom announced after an orthodontist appointment that she was signing me up for classical guitar lessons, I literally broke down crying with joy and disbelief, hugging Mom and thanking her. I never ever took the guitar for granted after that, and I was determined to be equally accomplished on both instruments. Now after doing recorder, voice, Baroque flute, and classical panflute, I look back at those kids and see that I get the last laugh. I wish I could travel back in time and tell them the words I have now towards them, “Hold my beer!” I wonder if they ever kept up with both instruments, or if they are still playing at least violin in adulthood, but I am sure that not many are, since they were never really passionate about violin anyway like I was. In the end, the moral of the story is as follows: Open mouth, insert foot. Don’t mock anybody or anything, or the last laugh will be on you ... ;)

We are aware of all the trolling, faux-hate (and very real hate), bandwagoning, snowball-commenting and all sorts. There's a difference between reading negativity and taking it to heart and reading too much into throwaway lighthearted disses. When the internet is the platform though where we see the first spark that took an innocent child's desire to play a life-enriching instrument away then yes, I AM going to come sweeping in with my views and comments. There are immature people on the internet who haven't even got there homework completed for school the next day, and they'll all say they were instead "too busy" from spending wasted time on KZbin, then there are the mature genuinely nice older people who comment sensibly and just visit the odd video here and there after a long day at work or in retirement. I'd rather engage with the latter.
