The combination of climate change and mismanaged water resources created this devastating fire situation. Anyone discussing environmental protection of fish without addressing the economic power structures controlling California's water supply is either spreading misinformation or hasn't looked deeper than "surface-level narratives." KZbin kept censoring "trigger words" so I had to make the post as robotic as possible.

Texas' infrastructure neglect is adding up as we see with their growing powergrid problems. If they don't set building codes to make houses more forest fire resistant, then rebuilding won't make sense. Everyone is focused on the Palisades fire in the rich area… but on the opposite side of town the Eaton Fire has been going and they’ve lost even more homes… but it’s the low income people over there so the media doesn’t focus on it as much. Many people who lost their homes in the Eaton Fire are really struggling. They still have to pay their mortgages and their property taxes so they have no money to rent a new place. Lived in Southern Maine for almost 20 years and in the 4 years after 2020 and all the chaotic stuff people were moving there from NY , Mass, and CAlifornia after the Paradise fire. Our rentals went up 4 , 5 and 6 times. . A $800 apartment i had is now renting for over 3k. Houses were going for 600k and begin sold to people from out of state driving the locals out of their own state. . I moved away and not going to say where because I bought a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ,farmhouse with a basement, and a barn for $150k. Disaster capitalism is what is happening

Michael, native Californian here. Yes, the politicians are part to blame about these LA horrific fires. No water from some fire hydrants, lack of water to Southern California, reducing the budget for fire departments, etc. However, the topography of the lands, with steep hillsides, mountains and the intense 100 mile per hour winds. Frankly, I don’t think these subdivisions should be rebuilt without major changes to new reservoirs, sprinkler systems, new working fire hydrants, larger budgets for more fire fighters, new fire stations, etcetc. It’s like building more electric vehicles without more electric stations to power them. What a mess !

As a result, there was a huge demand for any homes available in Chico and they knew they could drastically raise the price of the condo but they decided they would not take advantage of people that had just suffered such bad luck, so they sold the condo at the original asking price. In California, it will take a year or two just to clear the sites due to required toxic removal teams. Then several years for permits, an estate home takes at least several years to build and that is with plenty of available builders. There simply won't be enough builders that build custom homes. I was born and raised in Southern California. Went to USC, worked near Brentwood. These fires were not preventable, but the mass destruction was avoidable if any of the politicians would have being doing even a basic job. Clearing brush, burying cables, not allowing homeless to camp in the woods (most fires are started by homeless- google it) having a reservoir full of water and hydrants that work. And just an idea, don't cut the fire department budget by 17 million dollars just last year- thank you mayor Bass. So the democrats are responsible for this horrendous disaster. But I doubt anything will be done about it. All you can do is leave the state, so your house is not in danger thanks to woke incompetent democrat politicians. I left CA, along with over a million former residents of the once great state. The democratic woke agenda is anti people and you can't really change evil to good. the insurance situation is worse than what you described, since, as a requirement to being able to operate in the state, private insurance companies are obligated to bail out the state's insurance program (FAIR) if it goes insolvent. It only has a few million to its name at this point so it will run out of money quickly, and other insurers have to pitch in. So they will have to pay even if they did not write any policies in the affected area. They will have to pay the high risk claims taken on by the state that aren't even their clients and that they did not receive any premiums from.
