The only thing I don't like about Twitch is how streamers abuse ads. They put up to 8 of them back to back, then insult any viewer who calls it out, saying "then subscribe and you won't get ads". It's just as predatory and greedy as gaming companies are with aggressive microtransactions.

They put the ads in the beginning so it doesn't pop up in a hour or so, to get longer view time with less ad interruptions. But yes if they are worth your 5 a month then i would pay for it.

Real, its so boring. I'd rather watch youtube because my ad blocker works and I'm not forced to watch 3 minutes of ads every 5 minutes. I'm not watching twitch streamers at that point, I'm watching a billboard ad screen. I'm not gonna pay money just to not see ads, the streamers are already rich bruh they dont need my $5, I could use that on gas to get to my job. The only time I use twitch is when a game I play has twitch drops, and thats when the creators abuse the ad system even more. People getting 2k viewers a day could get 10k viewers from just a twitch drop event, then force those 12k viewers to watch 2-3 minute ads every 5 minutes just to maximize their money. Its not rocket science to understand how twitch streamers make money, they get money when someone is watching their stream, then watching ads on that stream. The more people watching those ads, the more money the streamer gets. Then you got people who will fork over $5 to a millionaire every month, add that onto the pile of money the streamer already has.

I don't watch Twitch. In fact the site is blocked at my house after p*rn was made super easy to find and watch on Twitch. Regardless, THE gaming livestream service is TWITCH. Nobody has been able to dethrone the platform. Streaming games online is synonymous with twitch while others are just alternative options. Kick is making progress for sure, but it's going to take time and loads of money to bring Kick to the forefront. KZbin will never outpace Twitch simply because of the fact that live content is second to pre-recorded content. It will always be that way and there's no focus on bringing livestreams more to the forefront.

Hot Take for you, when covid hit and streaming took off it was a completely refreshing form of entertainment. Once gaming transitioned from a hobby into a business around 2020 the refreshing content turned into a toxic shit show. Between people faking content or people cheating for content it just totally unraveled. Im an older gamer and at 1 point would have suggested my kids stream while they are playing, to being totally against it. Here is my take on it, very small streamer... VERY SMALL, I still stream on at least 3 rotating platforms. Kick, YT and Twitch. I get more interaction on Kick and YT than twitch ever will. I am monetized on Kick and Twitch, not YT as requirements for them is much higher. Not bragging or soliciting, but all streamers benefit from multiple platform streaming. I love that you can rewind live streams on YT like if I joined late I could play it back and then catch up to the live part of the stream, and the artwork for the streamers videos. Oh yeah and not 1000 adds and you can skip adds unlike twitch

Personally, I prefer to watch on KZbin, but he's right about multistreamers. They pay attention to Twitch chat most of the time. Twitch is not a good viewing experience imo because of the ads. I'll be watching a BR streamer. Right at the end game ad 1 of 7 will show up. Its so random and so annoying that I flat stopped watching on Twitch.

I think one the biggest obstacles for youtube is dmca. I see guys on twitch blasting the shit out of their favorite songs having a good time, where as on youtube, tim got one his vods taken down because of a siren, that is part of a beyonce song. A siren of all sounds.

i have experienced this myself on my main channel when i was streaming on youtube, there is 0 exploration and push for low viewer streamers, if you don't have a big subscription you won't get viewers while on twitch from time to time your stream can appear to someone browsing the list randomly and you can gain new viewers this way

I feel like its harder to stream on youtube if you aren't already popular because it caters to videos which is why most content creators just edit their twitch streams and upload them to YT, but the overall experience is far better imo than twitch these days and its for one reason, their 10 in a row 2:30 minute ads forced down your throat. If a streamer is multi-casting twitch is the last place I wanna go except for drops. But twitch itself is gaming / hot tub centric so its easier to find the people and content you want to watch

Working professional here who only watches during the workday - I cannot access twitch from my work computer, and i do not have any desire to pull up another machine simply to watch twitch, so unless its here on YT, I'll never watch it.
