love how you broke down the flaws of the zv1. to be fair, i never had anything against those flaws, learned to work around them and that's probably why i wasnt that excited with the mark 2 since the improvements from the first wasn't really that important for my use case.

Totally get that too. And I think if you’re not filming yourself primarily handheld, the zv1 is the more versatile camera. In fact, I think both cameras have a place and depending on what you do, one is the better choice than the other. Maybe they shouldn’t have called it a mark 2 but a ZV1-w or something hahah

Don't get all the bashing. The points you mention are totally on point and I think that this release was great and I am happy that Sony made the improvements. For a tiny camera as the Sony ZV1 is and how reliable it has been, it would be wrong to try and reinvent the wheel. It was almost a perfect camera for its size and audience to being with. Now with the improvements with the ZV1 mark 2 it will be more than enough to suit the targeted audience. They do not deserve all this hate from the "camera gurus" that it is getting. Up until now I have put a lot of weight on KZbin reviews. It's nice to hear some reviews on things from industry "professionals". I have a crazy disorder where I research the heck out of anything before I spring for the purchase. I have the ZVE1 but wanted something much more compact for throwing in my backpack or tank bag on my off-road motorcycle rides. I saw all these videos of absolute hate for the new ZV1 ii. I ended up buying both the OG ZV1 and the mk ii. I've spent a week with both of them and am returning the original. With the original if I was working on something, or pointing out something within arms reach, I'd literally have to have the camera behind my head to get the whole object in the frame (motorcycle). I like that the menu on the mk ii matches my ZVE1 and the original ZV1 actually overheated while I was using it in my garage. Everyone has opinions, even influencers, but when it comes to a camera I've really learned to get my own hands on them to see IF it works for MY use. I happen to agree with your review, I love my mkii!

😃I understand what you are saying. I think why folks are disappointed is they see all these other cameras increase in spec and resoluaion and we all loved the ZV1, I have been buying these point and shoots since the RX100M4, yep each one... and the sensor has not increased, however the price has. Also Sony is the king of camera sensors they make them for everyone, but they can't bump up their own game. Same with Apple we expect better each year becasue the have trained us this way. So that being said I also did pre-order to test for YT and myself. So I am happy with the user interface change (like the ZV1F) and USBC; looking forward to test the STAB vs the 1. Thanks for your opinion it does help.

I disagree with your argument stating optical stabilization is useless. It may be insignificant by itself but pairing with Active SteadyShot they work very well, much better than the bigger brother ZVE10 and just barely overtaken by the bigboi ZVE1. From the reviews I've seen thus far, Mk II stabilization is inferior to Mk I.

Hey thanks for your comment, from the 48 reviews I’ve watched so far it’s hard to tell, some of them look actually better stabe - while others looks a little more jerky. We’ll have to wait and see when people actually get them in their hands. To me having the active stabe on defeats the purpose - if the ois was just a little bit better I think I would miss it, but on its own it doesn’t really do much

@@chrismeetschris I think you mentioned you have a proper Alpha camera, an A7IV or something. Just try this - You can notice that when stab set to Active, the result will be better when camera is paired with an OSS/VC lens. Lens stab works in conjunction with EIS to make the stab better in hand held. Without lens stab it is just more jerky like what you have also noticed yourself.

If Mk II is what Mk I should had been, THE PRICE SHOULD HAD AT LEAST STAYED THE SAME if not cheaper, since the inner components besides the lens are the same, and electronics come down in price over time. I hate that Sony is charging customers more for a same old same old.

That’s unfortunately just 2023, everything is more expensive - and I’m sure the brand new lens design didn’t help the costs. Either way i agree with you. I wish it was cheaper or the same at the least. Or alternatively, make it a little bit more and give us more.

I wonder if this means the zv-1 will go down in price. I’ve had it on my wishlist for a long time! But the zv-2 sounds nicer with the wider lens. Does it the smaller frame bother you a lot for filming?

Hi Molly, do you mean smaller one inch sensor? If so, I don’t mind the smaller sensor for filming :) it’s definitely not as nice as aPSC/ full frame, but I still love the image coming out of it!

Yes, MK 2 will be better for video, but much worse for photos.

If you don't need a wider lens, id probably go with the zv1 used. you should be able to find it for 350-450 USD. Really good camera.

Who cares about lack of touch screen? It's the most ridiculous complaint.

Because the camera is so small and lacks a lot of usable navigation, the touch screen just helps get to things faster.
