Everyone loves my homemade laundry detergent so I decided to show you how I make it ♥️

Making your own laundry detergent is super easy. Come along with me and I’ll teach you what I use in mine and how to mix it up.

I have been testing laundry mixes. I wonder if you added 4 cups of regular non iodized salt instead of mineralized sea salt(hardens the water), 6 cups mule team borax, 4 cups oxyclean and 6 cups grated natural organic soap to that which would work better. Test a small batch of each on a deep stain with mud and blackberries on 2 old cotton rags and see.

I was same when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. It is an auto immune disorder and a form of hypothyroidism. Other symptoms can include: brittle hair, nails, dry itchy skin, loss of eyebrow hair, fatigue, brain fog, and constipation. It can also cause infertility. A physician can test TSH and thyroid hormones to rule out. It is not something anyone can ignore. Nodules grow on thyroid organ and can become cancerous. It is a fairly "easy" cancer to "manage" when detected early.

Your recipe makes the most sense to me, as you are not adding bars of soap! That would technically be laundry soap, not a proper detergent which rinses clean. I suppose if someone had some items they could not adequately clean the first time with your recipe, they could add a small amount of a detergent like Dawn or liquid Ivory as needed. It still would be better than all the carcinogens.

Thanks so much for your feedback! We have been using it for a while and we haven’t had any complaints so far. It is what works for us. We so far haven’t had anything that hasn’t gotten clean enough. I love that it doesn’t have a residue. Dawn dishwashing liquid has formaldehyde in it 😬, We use a natural brand of dishwashing liquid now.

@@mossyoakgurl4life Thanks for your repky, and glad it is working for you. I've been using washing soda with borax, and a very small quantity of Arm&Hammer washing powder that contains Oxyclean... I've obtained great results as well. You're right about the formaldehyde... almost all industrial liquid detergents will probably release some...there is probably trace amounts of 1,4, Dioxane in Dawn as well as the Arm&Hammer detergent powder I'm using. Still less than using straight detergent in the quantity they recommend; that's what I I tell myself anyhow! I've been using straight amonia fir blanets and towels with superior results as well in hot water. I use sudsy ammonia for towels, and plain for blankets and throws, and the dog's stuff. I've done the math on this homemade stuff and at least where I live it's no cheaper than buying Aldi. Three of us here have sensetive skin and nine of us have reacted to Aldi detergent, but many of the ingredients in this home made detergent are well known for triggering sensitivity, especially essential oils. ( I was a nurse in a dermatology clinic for over 5 years). One of the cheapest and least allergenic/eco friendly detergents is the ecoegg. I use it for all my lightly soiled low temp washes, everything else gets washed on cold with Aldi.

Thank you so much for sharing your recipe❣️❣️❣️I very humbly wanted to mention (you may have already done so) check the fragrance oils for skin safety. A lot of fragrance oils are not skin safe (for candles etc.) there are however all natural fragrance oils (plant based and or made with essential oil blends) or you could use your own 100% essential oil blend, please do some research on that though, on which are safe and safe usage rates. Im no expert but did do research on them as I make soap and body products. Im mentioning because I care, not to be a jerk. I have switched to safer options for my family as well. And again I do really appreciate you for sharing this recipe ❤

I put everything in 2 kitchen trash bags doubled up to mix, less powder in the air, no detergent on my hands, quick mix❣️ Also, I use 1-2 tablespoons per load, put that in my HE washer drum, and wash with warm or hot water❣️ No Issues thus far... Thanks for the video... Love It ❤️

All of that can be found on the internet. Start by researching what the components of laundry detergent are and what each one does. Write it all down. Then research what components are necessary to make laundry detergent. Then research the ingredients of what you use and what component they are. Then research Borax, Baking Soda, Soda Wash, OxiClean, ZOTE soap, and Fels Naptha soap. This will take many hours and it's worth it because you will be informed on what's in the store vs. what we should be using. Dr. Bronner's soap is 100% organic which is the only type of soap that should be used (organic). It's found with all the othet bath soaps and it's a bit pricey. PH of laundry detergent should be 7-10 ; 7 is more harsh on clothes; 10 is more mild on clothes. Salt lowers the PH since it's a 7 and the ingredients I mentioned above are all 8 and higher PH. So, the more salt, the lower the PH; 7 is a neutral PH. Once you research all of the above, you'll realize most commercial laundry detergents have a very high PH because that's easier on clothing. My recipe is a 9.78 PH. You'll have to come up with your own recipe based on what you learn.

Personally that is too many ingredients that cost a lot of money and a lot of time just to do homemade DIY laundry detergent.😮 Also I think that is too much ingredients that will be absorbed by your clothing as well as your washing machine.😮 Also a lot of those ingredients that you are combining strip your clothing of their colors And weekends any of your clothing that have elastic bands.😮 Many of those ingredients can cause severe damage to your washing machine as well.😮 It can build up into your machine parts. 🤔 It can strip your washing machines belt and break the belt that turns the drum to spin the water out of your clothing.😮 I prefer store-bought liquid laundry detergent 1 tbsp for small loads and 2 tbsp for large only.😍 One gal of store-bought name brand liquid laundry detergent will last me a year because it is manufactured for the purpose of actually cleaning your clothing as well as it is super concentrated.😍 If someone is able to buy all of those ingredients you're are able to buy a 1-gallon name brand laundry detergent.😮 Many of those ingredients are for stripping your clothing from the build-up detergent so why would you want to use that in each and every load.😮 This is just my opinion. I also do use white vinegar with some pure lavender oil and some tea tree oil as my fabric softener only three tablespoons to 6 tablespoons per load only don't go overboard with the white vinegar because it can damage your washing machine as well. 🤔😃 I tried it but it's just not for me. I will stick with my Tide . And so far since I've stuck with name brand liquid laundry detergent my washing machine hasn't broken. And I use a wooly ball with some lavender pure essential oil and some tea tree oil for my fabric softener in my dryer is better than store-bought fabric sheets which are dangerous and leave a layer in your machine which also damages your dryer.😍

@Andrew Jones The ingredients the lady combined are not detergents. They are Sodium Carbonate (the washing soda) which makes the pH ALKALINE, and when dissolved in the wash water, yields both sodium hydroxide, and carbonic acid. This on its own is normally known as a mild cleaner, or booster... but it is not a petroleum derived surfactant like modern laundry detergents. The Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom Salt) acts as a wetting agent, (mild surfactant) and a fabric softener, and probably aids in preventing soil redepositing. It can also help prevent yellowing of whites, and helps dark items from fading. The baking soda probably can help remove odours, but probably isn't chemically necessary along with the use of washing soda. It will help to further soften the water. It is rather popular to use both the Washing Soda + Baking soda in homemade detergent recipes to further increase alkalinity, which is necessary to break up and remove oils. Baking Soda is also much less costly than Super Washing Soda, so another reason why so many people add it. The addition of sea salt will help in softening the water, and acts as a builder. She is combining raw materials to avoid artificial fragrance, petrochemicals, synthetic dyes, bleaches, light-reflecting chemicals, and contaminants like 1,4, Dioxane which are CARCINOGENS found in almost all commercially made laundry detergents. Clearly she explained she and her husband have sensitive skin, and this agrees with them. There are many more chemicals in typical store-bought detergent. (SLS, and SLES, enzymes, phosphates, formaldehyde, ethoxylated alcohol, Nonylphenol Ethoxylate, Benzene, and optical whiteners. It's probably more valuable to you to learn what IS NOT in her detergent!

@@edwardkantowicz4707 Precipitation depends on the anion. In the case of a soap it’s the conjugate base of a fatty acid that Mg forms precipitates with. These end in -ate, eg, stearate vs stearic acid. Actually, magnesium forms ionic bonds with two of them since magnesium is divalent. Add washing soda to soften water and magnesium carbonate will precipitate, thereby “boosting” the soap solution. Chloride and sulfate anions form soluble salts with magnesium.

@Rinehart It's still far superior from a chemistry perspective when compared to the typical recipes which include actual soap... animal or vegetable fats+lye. Those seem to actually be the standard as regards homemade recipes. The soap produces scum which eventually builds up on the fabrics, even with a vinegar rinse. Regular "stripping" or soaking in straight washing soda and hot water is required to fully eliminate this build-up every so often. You probably have your own versions of recipes you didn't "invent" out of thin air either. This one is unique due to the addition of Epsom Salt, and sea salt.

Fabric softeners (and hair conditioners) soften by coating fibers and hairs with compounds called quats…quaternary amines. Similar to surfactants, they are long hydrocarbon chains with a polar (quaternary amine) terminus. About 14% of Epsom salt by weight is Mg. ES as sold to consumers is a heptahydrate. ES is a salt. Chemically not possible to be a fabric softener.
