You know what is funny about this storyline? The fact that as this is a alternative timeline in the marvel universe, it puts into perspective the whole story of apocalypse in that comic arc involving the young Thor when he first met him. More specifically apocalypses' contact with the celestial technology and the agreement he made with that celestial in exchange for learning how to use the tech he found. It feeds into the whole psychology of apocalypse and his ideology of survival of the fittest and why it made sense. The celestials basically nurtured that ideology in him for the purposes of guiding the new evolving humans into battling each other all the while becoming stronger to the point they can protect the celestial egg inside the earth.
@jasoncaldwell56275 жыл бұрын
Yes- good observations. Add to all that how Hickman (in S.H.I.E.L.D.) had the Brotherhood of the Shield cut a deal with the Celestials to save the Earth waaay back in ancient China. They put their embryo in the Sun instead of the Earth. SO much of modern Marvel is derived from this great series- with many of the best writers using it as inspiration.

This trilogy is my favorite Marvel story. Alex Ross is a genius. To put together every single aspect of the MU at the time it was beautiful. Characters that you haven't seen since you were a kid become relevant, criminals that always get caught have their potential shown. I watch this every time Rob puts it up. I wish he would get it together and do Universe and ParadiseX!!!

Wish Kevin feige would make earth x a trilogy movie. This would be the biggest movie ever in the mcu. It's a great story line with all the greatest characters in the marvel universe. I remember collecting this entire series connecting the covers to make the most beautiful poster, and Alex Ross's art is so magical. It would make a great movie. It's a great comic book saga. I love the end when black bolt screams norrin to come bring galactus and devour the celestials. Just amazing.

I met Jim Krueger, the writer of the series, back in 2001 at the Chicago Comic-con and he was a real awesome guy. He signed all my Earth X and Universe X comics that were out at the time. Also, you seem to think that Skull gave Cap visions but that's Spiders-man doing that. The Skulls powers are analogous to The Mule from Issac Asimov's Foundation series. He doesn't control your thoughts but your emotions and can basically nail them in place.

You're forgetting when this was written. This was written before Brubaker's Captain America run where we retconned Bucky as still alive, that's why he's still dead in this. Valeria Richards isn't mentioned because she didn't exist yet, this was written before Chris Claremont created her. You may as well ask why Miles Morales isn't in it.

When it comes to Blackbolt I'd argue there might not be as much buffing and nerfing of his powers in terms of their individual use (not their upper limits where he can break a god) if you consider projecting your voice. Actors can use their diaphragm and stance to help get their voice to carry around an auditorium even as a whisper, it is louder and audibly distinct but its still a whisper. Id argue in the individual instance where decimated that area with a whisper he made that whisper carry by essentially pushing that whisper out. Love the compilation videos though been watching them non stop lately thank you for doing these :).

@@Voltan I will never forgive that movie for taking that plot point but completely ignoring the idea of the eternals being trapped in space vibranium. If only because being trapped nigh-unbreakable metal makes more sense than an oath not to interfere in non-deviant threats.

You have to remember that up until six issues into the EX story it was an "in continuity" future of the Marvel universe there is even a six issue miniseries depicting how Reed turned Galactus into a sun, the plan fell apart when the writer for this story wanted Johnny Storm to die in the actual FF book that's when the decision was made to make the rest of the X trilogy going forward an out of continuity story.

I know this a old post but if you knew the true nature of mutants. You will see the snap cause the origin of Mutants is stupid. Mutants are born not create. Inhumans were engineer to be slave soldiers for Kree. Baseline Humans should the genetic make up to become Inhumans.

Not a complaint about the video, Rob I love your stuff especially your long videos, I listen to them at work and they help me be through the days. That being said does it bother anyone else that they make a point of Captain America not killing people, especially people who are evil to the core and commit terrible atrocities. The guy was a soldier in WW2 where he had no choice but to kill people, not that I'm advocating Nazism but soldiers are not inherently evil regardless of what side they fight on, they are just people doing their jobs and he killed the hell out of a bunch of them.
