I'm actually not sure,because Giyuu never mentioned Makomo in the manga 😅.. But I searched up on google, Makomo has been dead for 10 years. And Sabito has been dead for 8 years.. So I just assume that Makomo was trained two years before Giyuu and Sabito😅.

Nope, When Giyuu wished to die instead of Sabito, everyone will remember Sabito as the water hashira. They switched roles, the only ones who could remember Giyuu are the ones who have met Sabito before.
