I have ridden a lot of different motorcycles off-road. Currently ride an 1190 R and it is much smoother and more stable on rough aggressive terrain than a dirtbike. Its mass, weight and low torque prevent it from deflecting and easily stalling and plows right up and over lots of things you would never expect a bike of that size to be able to do. The obvious caveat is if you get it past 10 to 15° of lean good luck bringing it back. That’s where a dirtbike shines.
@EverySingleSunday3 ай бұрын
They definitely have benefits and drawbacks. My 300/500 are much smoother offroad than my big bike but I have them setup that way for a reason. Zach’s 500 shocked me with how stiff it was.
@kx89603 ай бұрын
I went for the middleweight in a '21 890 R. Yes, it's twice as heavy as my old '91 KX500 (bought new), but it has plenty of power to cruise 85 all day long, and is more capable in the dirt than I am so it was perfect for me. In about 2014, I was interested in getting into ADV riding, and sat on an 1190 ADV, and though, man, this is WAY too big and heavy for the dirt. So, when the 790 then 890 came out, I thought it was perfect. It COULD be lighter still, but it is what it is.

Great job riding and thanks for sharing the adventure, I really enjoyed watching!

I’m a pretty strong rider and can pick my T7 up over and over if needed. I love the challenge of the big bike for sure but a 500 will go so many more places. If there’s a lot of different stuff to ride, taking the 500 is definitely the best choice as it does it all.
@RTRrentals3 ай бұрын
@@michaelflores7657 yeah I agree with Travis, the 500 will for sure go anywhere you want to go, it just may not be comfortable on some of the more ADV friendly rides. If you really like the challenge of the T7 you can bring that bike only, and get through everything if you are strong rider but it will be challenging in a lot of Colorado spots. If you're not up for a butt kicking and you want more of an enjoyable relaxing ride definitely bring the 500. And hello again Mr. Flores :-)
@RTRrentals3 ай бұрын
I think big bikes are smoother in the rocky two track than dirt bikes because of the weight. Dirt bikes are lighter and easier to throw around not only for your body, but the rocks also throw you around more. big ADV bikes have mass and they're not affected by the chatter as much
@EverySingleSunday3 ай бұрын
All depends on how they are setup for sure. But yea, the big bikes can definitely be amazing

I ride those routes on stock 21890R, and would like to do it again, but would like to use a KTM 1290 R instead, thinking it would be more comfortable and easier to ride with the additional power. How did the 1290 R rider like the bike compared to the 890R?
@EverySingleSunday27 күн бұрын
I e ridden both and would prefer the bigger bike as these trails aren’t that hard. The 890 is a fun bike for sure but on easier stuff like the the 1290 brings a little more challenge to the game and is a blast to ride
