Fantastic video, thanks for your clear and concise explanations, makes this previously scary looking thing so much more approachable

Thanks John. Very helpful video. My recent house remodeling project promoted me to buy an air compressor and nail guns including a framing nailer. Along the lines of working faster with nail guns, one of the biggest benefits for me was the ability to hold the framing work with one hand and nail with the other. I found this be particularly true in a remodel since I'm wasn't building walls on the floor and standing them up. I also found the nail gun very handy for driving nails where my space to swing a hammer was very limited. One tight spot where I was attaching a ceiling electrical box, I ended up buying a palm-nailer that solved the problem. Also, my aim with a hammer while trying to hold the nail and work in place is not anywhere near as good as what yours is no doubt. Cheers.

Thank you for making this video it has been very helpful to me, but I have a question for you, by any chance do you know why my DeWalt framing air nail is missfiring, or can you give some tips on how to go about fixing it or maybe a good video that you know of and I can watch, I appreciate any help and keep doing the videos you are making they are of a lot of help to us beginners, thank you

When you say "misfiring," what do you mean exactly? Is it jamming after one nail? Is it double-firing? Is it firing when you don't intend to fire?

It works ok like 3 to five nails and then i press the trigger and it doesn't shoot the nails any more and then i press again and it works, so I want to say is Skipping, that's what I meant when I said misfiring, sorry for the confusion

What you describe is typically a result of the nails not sliding properly in the rails. I don't know if your gun has plastic or wire collated nails, but either can be a problem. You need to check that the plastic or wire holding the nails together is not sticking out somewhere and dragging. Check that the nail strips are not bent or twisted, causing excessive drag. Check that the gun rails are clean, and you could spray with silicone to keep the rails slick. Check that there isn't something like a bit of plastic or paper stuck in the area where the hammer comes down. Finally, if you bought cheap nail strips you might want to try a name brand to see if the performance improves.

Excellent presentation, but for me as new user,I would like to which type of gun to buy in case I have to nail plywood in concrete block or to nail 2×4 in concrete. Please, inform me.

That's a great question. As it turns out, you won't use any air nailer for that purpose! Instead, there are powder-actuated nail guns which literally use a .22 caliber cartridge (without a bullet) to fire a nail through wood and into concrete. They are loud! Truthfully, they don't always work very well. Another option is to use a special kind of screw called Tapcon. You drill a pilot hole with a hammer drill and then drive a tapcon screw into that hole. The threads of the screw deform and hold tight. I would recommend that route if at all possible.

Brad nailers??

The 18 gauge nailers I spoke about in the video are also called brad nailers. Some might argue a 16 gauge nailer is also in the brad family.
