Regarding Seam's warning to not go outside after dark, HalfBreadChaos had a theory about a creature that haunts hometown and was responsible for Dess dissapearing. This dialogue seems to support that. Its the thing that scared the wet-nosed bandits and got them to seek Undyne out of fear.

I think it's entirely plausible that Seam himself could be the final secret super-boss, as he seems to know about them a little more than he should. There's a mysterious connection going on there and he seems to have meta-knowledge. So the idea that he could be an analogue to Sans in Undertale's genocide route is also possible, but fighting him may not be exclusive to that route. He is collecting those crystals that are supposed to be rather rare and powerful, who knows what he would be capable of with all of them... what do they even do!? Since like you said, I don't think that he is evil, he may fight us as a sort of test of our true power, before granting us the final "pure crystal" as that is likely what he has. If he fights you in Snowgrave, I expect that fight would be a lot more dark and he genuinely wants to stop you.
@EpicFailureFive2 жыл бұрын
One idea I've been contemplating is that Deltarune may have a special route, known as the "broken route", which involves going out of your way to break the game, using a combination of the normal and weird routes. If the game represents fate, then breaking the game is the only way to actually win. For example, in chapter 2 it is actually possible for Noelle to learn the Snowgrave spell without locking yourself out of the normal route. To do this, you simply need to complete the weird route all the way up to the Berdly fight, but defeat him via IceShock instead of Snowgrave. -Afterward, you can backtrack to the cheese maze and see that you can use Snowgrave on the three maice.- [Unfortunately the ability to interact with the cheese maze was removed in an update] Abandoning the weird route in this way is also one of the few options for being able to keep the Thorn Ring for the Twisted Sword, so the inclusion of its recipe may be Toby hinting at this mixed route idea. Seam could be a super boss the game has put in place to stop you from completing the broken route, hence the whole stitching motif. Perhaps the reason Seam views the heroes' fates in such a nihilistic way, is because Seam knows the heroes will have to beat them in order to escape their fate? But Seam likes the idea of games and a challenge, as seen by their companionship with Jevil, so they are instructing the fun gang to fight the secret bosses, so that if they do have to fight, it will be a much more entertaining battle for Seam. It wasn't shown in this video, but if you collect Jevil's crystal but fail to get Spamton Neo's, Seam seems to be a bit disappointed at first, and remarks how doing so may have avoided death. "... It seems that you didn't get another Shadow Crystal. Hm. I understand. It's no small feat to fight an opponent that has one. Well then, forget it all. You're a Lightner. Don't take your life, well, lightly!"
@cyborgboy30702 жыл бұрын
Well I mean if ya hear his music it's the same motif as "the circus" and "dialtone" if ya listen closely in the background not only that but he does say "you too, will begin to realize the futility of your actions. Ha ha ha... At that time, feel free to come back here. I'll make you tea... And we can toast to the end of the world!" Considering if he is being literal here and he is legit about the end of the world I wouldn't be surprised if this was a metaphor for him battling you nevermind the fact that you need 3 shadow crystals at least to get one pure crystal so unless if we need all of the shadow crystals... I believe it is safe to say that the last secret boss is Seam considering there would be no purpose in the last chapter of the game to get a shadow crystals that can't do anything

i think he’s the 4th secret boss. chapter 4 is mostly hometown, and there wouldn’t be a dark fountain created to be sealed in just 15 minutes on a normal playthrough, so the secret boss would have to be either a thunder/light or dark/star boss in castle town, and i know someone whose outlook on life has become dark, yet darker. also, he claims to be the same level as jevil in the games he plays

One thing I’ve never seen anybody ever bring up is the frayed bowtie, which reduces damage from cat/puppet attacks. At first glance, this seems to just be for Spamton Neo and maybe Tasque and Tasque manager fights, but what exactly is Seam? Seam is arguably a puppet of a cat. That’s probably just a stretch, but I’ve always made that connection.

There's also a small, interesting easter egg of Seam in the Undertale Cross Stitching Book in the description for the seam ripper tool. "A tool designed to allow for the easy removal of stitches. Its small, curved blade cuts through the thread, while its blunt or ball-tipped point protects your fabric. Essential for ripping out a misaligned stitch if you're too far along to simply pull the threads back out. Once wielded by Seam in combat."

You’re severely underrated and deserve more views! That said, Seam is my favorite NPC just with just how suspiciously knowledgeable he is, and despite all that knowledge, he’s grown so nihilistically cynical and hopeless that he doesn’t even bother to help, despite it being hinted that he’s probably quite strong. I’m genuinely shocked you didn’t point out the “darker, yet darker,” bit given those were the words of Gaster in Undertale of you translate the wingding language he speaks. It’s the most telling of his words of what might be going on.

I think that seam knows way more than any of you think. From the get go, he makes a fourth wall break in he introduction. He doesn’t need to specify the spelling of his name conflicting with the pronunciation unless he’s showing you how to spell it, which he is obviously not. He then goes on to say that this is his little seap, which doesn’t make any sense unless he knows that he is communicating through writing

@Wh1teNoise616 Жыл бұрын
I’d like to think that maybe seam is the final secret boss and if you pacify him he gets redeemed but if you kill him his sight on the world is just validated before he turns into an item or something. Either way I feel like he’d give you something because in the first one he wants to help you but in the second outcome it doesn’t realize hatter to him if he helps you.
@novagalacticwolf567 Жыл бұрын
Okay, but what if he's actually lying to us when he tells us that he can't find the shadow mantle? I think it would still be in character if he did actually lie about not having it. In the first chapter, he helps us find all the key pieces. He knows that we probably plan on fighting Jevil. So what if he helps us find the key pieces because he wants to challenge us to see if we truly are heroes? Despite being nihilistic, he's clearly interested in the results of how our fight turns out. After defeating Jevil he then says how we might actually be the heroes. So what if he purposely hid the shadow mantle and lied about not having it to see how we do fighting against all odds? It would be another challenge to see if we truly are the heroes. I don't think beating Jevil was enough to completely convince him which is why he does this. Something that is interesting is that he doesn't completely care much about us. That's why whenever we leave the shop he says something on the lines of "See you later, or not..." He also felt okay with having us fight Jevil who he knew was a strong opponent. By lying to us he doesn't really have anything to lose. If we die, oh well. But if we win, that can kinda give him even a little bit of hope. So I wouldn't really be surprised if it turns out he was lying about this.

I think another weird thing is seam's eye is obe of the things that flowey mimics at the start of his neutral fight (not sure if that say more about flowey or seam though)
@Catgatroid11 ай бұрын
I know this might be a stretch, but ever since I first saw Sean, his eye with the button reminded me of photoshop Flowey, in particular the part where Flowey says "I'll show them the REAL meaning of this world" He makes his face turn into a weird, rotating three-dot shape when he says "Everyone" which is oddly similar to Sean's Since Flowey did differentiate Humans & Monsters with "everyone" that could mean there are more races? And although Seam does say "Neither Light nor Dark hold future for a Darkener in my condition", I find it plausible to believe he *isn't* entirely darkener Perhaps those with more knowledge become some other race? Who knows.

I honestly use Seam's abnormal knowledge as evidence that Dark Worlds are able to exist without the Dark Fountains, couse', like... He tells not only about what we've seen, but also about what are yet to grasp, y' know. If not him, then it would be more believable that everything is fake and fiction artificial before the Dark Fountains. This DW stuff is still confusing, but this old cat makes it a bit easier to think about.

I think Seam is actually Gaster. If you look at Seams sprite, you'll notice he's got one big eye and one slightly smaller eye, in the same shape as the mystery man sprite from the corridor in Waterfall, who most believe is Gaster. I don't think the fact he's called "Seam" is an accident either. If you look at him, he's coming apart at the seams... but why? Well what we know about Gaster is that he apparently fell into his creation The Core and was shattered into time and space. It seems to me Seam is barely holding himself together, maybe because he got shattered, fell into the Dark World and had to try and put himself together again. I think this is true of both Undertale and Deltarune. The reason he communicates through Wingdings in Undertale is because you can't communicate between the two worlds. When you try and use your phone in the dark world of Undertale, you get the same sound as Gaster talking in Wingdings, and when you go to the red door in the light world, you hear the same noise slowed down, which is likely where the first door to the Dark World got opened. There's also a frightening possibility that in Undertale, Gaster is trapped alone in the Dark World, possibly with some of his followers I don't know. As for why he makes little odd appearences, if he was a scientist, it would make sense for him to try and break through into the Light World and get back to the world of Undertale. My theory is Gaster is trapped in the Dark World in Undertale and Deltarune. There's no way to get there in Undertale, but because we can go between worlds in Deltarune, that means we can in theory talk to Gaster within the Dark World. Let's say the Font Wingdings has more of a relevance too, showing Gasters connection to Sans and Papyrus, and therefore is likely a skeleton, we know the characters change appearance slightly when they go to the Dark World. Maybe in the Light World, Seam was a skeleton but became a stuffed toy like figure upon arriving in the dark world. Maybe similar things would happen to Sans and Papyrus, but it makes me wonder what sort of a state Seam would be as a Skeleton. One other thing is his theme. I always felt the theme had this unsettling vibe to it that didn't quite add up, but If you listen to the theme with the man behind a tree, it shares a striking similarity to it, which I think is a nod to the fact Seam is at the very least potentially connected to the man behind the tree, which is often theorised to be Gaster. He also uses the phrase "darker yet darker", a phrase Gaster used in Entry 17. At the very least, I think there's waaaaaay too many coincidences for his connections to Gaster to not be intentional. I think if we've already met Gaster in game and don't know it, Seam is the most likely candidate.
