The Athenas map is very underused. They could have used the planet (now just one map) to reveal so much of the Siren/Eridian lore at a later stage in the game (like they did with Pandora).

* Immunity phases in way too many boss fights * Having to do entire takedowns to reach certain bosses (would have been nice if a raid version of them was available after beating the takedown for the firet time) * The amount of time you are forced to walk slowly listening to characters you have no reason to care about just to progress (BL3 isn't the only game to have this issue, a lot of modern games are going this direction) * I think the biggest offender is visual pollution, I don't understand why so many of the most powerful guns (looking at you complex root) make it a "use your minimap to point in the general direction of your enemies and shoot" simulator, or why killing bosses like graveward warrants the gearbox devs to nuke our retinas * Following in Handsome Jack's footsteps was an impossible task, he's probably one of my favourite characters in across all media, but Tyreen and Troy were exceptionally poor All of this being said the gunplay is still borderlands 2 + more mobility so it's pretty hard to go wrong with that. The gunplay is pretty fun (when you aren't forcibly blinded for looking at the screen)

My theory is they made troy and tyreen poor on purpose so they have better positioning for borderlands4 now they only have to make a better story than that and it’s obvious they can’t reach borderlands 2 story so it’s a lot easier to impress the fans

I personally disagree with the takedown statements, although I do think the takedown rewards should be like Wotans, meaning you can get more than 1 drop at once

This worded how I felt about the vault hunters so well. I felt like they didn't feel that different from each other, where BL2 they all felt like very different classes and their trees felt like they went into an overall playstyle while in BL3 they kind of blend together so I didn't feel the urge to go playthrough with other vaulthunters like I did in BL2 and even the pre-sequel.

I do think the legendary drop rates needed to be tuned down in BL3 but grinding 3+ hours for one item is just ridiculous. No adult with a full-time job and a family got time to be doing that. Shit I didn't have time for that in high school.

@mennisish2 most items in Borderlands 2 didn't take 3 hours to farm, unless you were going for absolutely perfect parts, which isn't necessary. Though farming in Borderlands 3 can take equally as long as it did in BL2 simply because there are far more variables on each weapon/item

I mean I went into a night with a list of around 16? Non event legendaries and 4 cartel legendaries and got all but 3 that night FROM their "dedicated " sources. Borderlands 2 I burned literally weeks trying to just 1 legendary with just the right element nonetheless decent rolls on it.. just for after about 4 weeks 4+ hours a night to see one and it was an op5 one not 6..

@steveperry2321 sounds like more of a RNG be a bitch deal than anything. Considering aside from DLC3 the drop rates for dedicated drops in BL3 and BL2 are the same. Just in BL3 it's a lot more Bloated of a loot pool

The excessively randomized rolls on shields, grenades, artifacts, and class mods were such a killer for me, and i don't hear many people talk about it. Anointments essentially replacing weapon parts was also such a lame downgrade. I wish they kept it simple like BL2 instead of cranking up the random variables to 11 just for the sake of variety

this is arguably a much more minor thing but i much prefer how bl2's hud looks, its much more expressive and bl3's just looks flat. especially things like the action skill duration bar being the same yellow rectangle for each character.

Thank, you! You are, probably, first person on KZbin who formulated that character rpg system (aka the skill trees) is an overall step back. As for the negatives you haven't mentioned - mine is the big one. A total identity crisis. It's a Doom eternal wannabe (especially at an endgame) that don't have dooms perfectly balanced gun system & hand crafted gameplay loop and therefore is a Frankenstein of a game. The Rorschach test for Bl3s game design is when people install something like a redux mod and the first thing they notice is increased mobility, like double jump. Wonderlands, witch is a Bl3 in disguise even more so. Bl2 felt like it had so much potential but Bl3 feels like it's a dead end.

I think a lot of that is due to the overbuffing I mentioned prior. At launch, the game felt really good balance-wise, but as gearbox went more and more overboard with nerfs/buffs, the balance deflated.

I know people love and cherish the older Borderlands games more, whether the reasons were good or not, but I feel like every Borderlands game has an issue that another Borderlands has better in that aspect.

The lack of creativity with enemies, specially animals/monsters in NEW planets. They just stick around with putting rats to fill it up. Yeah they put dinosaurs and whatever they are in necro but I feel it's wasted potential

Immunity phases CAN be good, if done right. Unfortunately the only good one in Borderlands 3 is Anathema.

If they did it right and didn't just toss them in an overabundance of places on top of already bloated health pools it might have felt better randomly deciding "I want to kill killavolt and try for one of his drops at a higher mayhem level just to get hit with 5+ minutes to get TO his and die during it like wtf.. When mayhem 10 jumps the health armor and shields THAT much but the handful of weapons I've seen lvl 72 then lvl 72 m10 are a bit over 2x rather than like 10x the health..

Y'know, I didn't really have much issue with bl3, only one in fact. As a lifetime enjoyer of the whole borderlands series I've loved watching it grow and really enjoyed playing all of the installments. Now for my issue with 3, it's simple. My big issue with it is that it released.

After recently doing several play throughs, the pacing in Eden-6 is poor. Also, even without using legendaries, the game is too easy on normal mode. I wish they had a harder mode for new characters.

How do you feel about the overpower levels in BL3

Mayhem levels are kind of a mixed bag for me. On one had being able to skip straight to M11 is dumb. On the other hand though, I'm glad because I absolutely hate the modifiers from M1-10 The problem I have with BL2's OP levels is that you had to complete Borderlands 2's hardest content (digi-peak) to unlock it. I think TTWL hit the nail on the head as far as unlocking your OP/Mayhem/Chaos levels goes, I just don't want 100 levels to unlock

I agree with what you mentioned about anointments, and generally I think this game missed the mark in terms of making guns themselves feel powerful. Unless you’re using a truly overpowered gun, it doesn’t do a lot of damage unless you have a good anointment plus your character’s broken skill/skills (fire in the skag den for example). It makes guns themselves feel like just damage delivery sticks as opposed to actual weapons. And once you do those things, suddenly the gun goes from being weak to doing a ton of damage. In Bl1 and 2, there were still terrible guns and overpowered guns, but a lot of them still felt strong on their own. You could just pick them up and use them and they’d feel perfectly capable. I hope Bl4 goes back to that.

Non sono d'accordo. Le passive devono essere tutte disponibili per tutte le classi, così che si possa avere massima varietà nelle build. Anche il problema dei world drop e della mancanza delle perlacee è un non problema; ci sono loot estremamente comuni e loot estremamente rari. Non ho bisogno del colore azzurrino per sapere che una diluvian firestorm è un drop raro.. uguale per un x2 supershredifier, boom sickle, triple roll shields, vindicator ghast call, ecc. Si poteva ottimizzare l'uso del loot leggendario in eccesso, quello si.. per esempio con un sistema di riciclaggio e crafting, ecc. L'albero delle abilità blu di Moze è tutto in sinergia con il danno splash. Molte armi che fanno danno splash, per esempio, calcolano il danno come danno granata.. la mind sweeper henera granate, e alcune skill fanno fare danno critico alle granate, o generano effetti a catena. È tutto incentrato su granate, danno ad area e danno splash, ad eccezzione di 3 skill per iron bear. Ti lamenti di sta roba, e poi fai il takedown della maliwan con armi di elemento fuoco 😳

Borderlands 3's downfall honestly falls on terrible hire and fire strategies kicking out veteran devs and replacing them with those who either dont k kw what theyre doing or dont know what a good game is The borderlands community was so large and unified that they made endless content for the new devs to siff through and figure out what the community wants they literally set their own blueprints with b1 and b2 they dropped the ball by just releasing an expansion pack of a game they called the pre sequel which had me wondering did they not deliver as expected because they are working extra hard on b3 no no they weren't working extra hard they were planning on just making a noob friendly cycle based game series Ultimately could b4 be good? Not likely unless the ip gets sold to a team that actually wants to be proud of their work

Yes, because the only thing that borderlands games have is in this video. There's no possible way that the better maps, better gun design, more endgame activities, better gunplay, more build variety, less ridiculous level grinding, endgame levels not being locked behind stupid content, and overall more fun game play experience is why I like Borderlands 3 more than Borderlands 2... but you're right, it's cognitive dissonance 🙄

@ConstantCanadian yet you shit on all of the things that make those things possible. The end game is better. I will give you that the maps are not better they are huge empty. Guns are not better, and legendaries as a whole feel like purple rarity at best. Leveling in games is never fun. You're right it's not dissonance it's outright delusion or copium of the highest degree. I enjoy these games, but none can rank top 5 by any measure

There are a lot of things that Borderlands 3 did right: like great DLC, fun action skills, far better gameplay than any of the previous games, WAY better map design (imo,) more fun/ better designed boss fights (again imo,) and more build diversity. Borderlands 3 isn't perfect, and neither is Borderlands 1, 2, or the pre-sequel.

Everytime gearbox does something wrong with borderlands, I install a mod for BL2. Borderlands needs a new story to happen away from pandora and the main cast of characters. Its a whole universe with soo much world building to make, shame they couldn't think of one outisde of pandora.

I agree 100% and would like to add the immunity phases! These are all exactly the reasons why I HATE BL3. Now I ask myself, if you don't like any of this, how can this be your favorite game? I think those are the main focuses of the series. If I subtract those, what is left? A casual shooter with minor loot aspects. And that divided the community. The only question for Gearbox is whether these casuals can carry the franchise on their own...

Honestly the core game play of Borderlands 3 is just to far above its predecessors. Even with all of these issues, it's just too much more fun to actually play than the past iterations.

@@ConstantCanadian You could just as easily play Apex, Fortnite, CoD... etc.!? But this is about the RPG part. That's just it. With BL3, a lot of casual shooter players came in and they now expect this aspect to stay that way? The community is actually divided.
