I like your attention to detail, makes it a lot easier to understand the process during repairs. Handy for those of us that may encounter similar issues with our boats.

Very nice episode! You are one heck of a detail oriented sailor and that’s extremely important when your lives and lively hoods could hang in the balance on a future crossing. Your explanations and demonstrations were crystal clear and on point. You take pride in every project you do and Boundless is lucky to have you two as her caretaker.

Wow thank you so much for those kind words! We put a lot of love into every project we do, and yes we focus on the details because they will matter during our eventual crossings! We feel very grateful to have such a well built and beautiful sailboat to take care of ❤️

Loved the dock projects, very informative and enjoyed how you didnt try to teach us each step of the way but dropped the key information or take-aways you got from each project. Some may have found this episode boring but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Had great info and was informational while showcasing the reality that is saling. BOAT stands for BRING OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND $$. I especially liked how you outlined that you were retrofitting your varied sized plumbing with same diameter lines. A point often missed or overlooked. People often will step things down and its good in a pinch but causes the exact issues you found with your 90 elbow from your through hole! Keep up the great work and enjoy your life a-drift!

On our farm, we need to braid ropes for work tasks, for horse tack, lassos, riding ropes, etc. It is a real art form. Your video was very informative and interesting, I see many similarities with nautical applications. Your work was exemplary! The ability to grasp the concept from a written description to an actual three dimensional project is very difficult and shows not only great dexterity, but exceptional intellect! Hats off to you! Great work, exceptional video as always! Thank you for providing links, it saves me from going on a “Wild goose chase!” lol, thanks for leaving that clip in, it made my day!

The only thing you missed was Kattie cooking the goose you were having for dinner. You both have compiled the BEST SAILING Channel on utube. The analytical instruction is second to none and the bottom drops for reference is remarkable. Best on your canal transit, I've done this starting in 1974 and ending around March of 1982 with our US Merchant Marine.

Loved the explanations and reminded me of the line braiding, splicing, etc, that I did back in the mid 1990’s and haven’t done since. Also loved the refrigeration repairs and hope that you don’t have any further problems as the refrigerant is a lot more expensive and restricted than it used to be. I look forward to your transit through the canal and entry into the Pacific Ocean on my side of the world (California). Hopefully you will have missed most of the bad weather we have had which could make for some rough sailing.

Nice splicing. Whenever I watch your new boat I discover things I very much like e.g. the hard rail or the wooden wheel. You seem to have bought a very nice boat. Btw I think you should use the next haul out to mount a scooped strainer on the thruhull of the water maker.
@Boundless_Adventure8 ай бұрын
Funny enough, i just read on the Spectra website that they recommend a scooped strainer! I can see how that would really help. Thanks for the compliment about the splicing 😊 we sure do feel like we bought ourselves one fine vessel. Very grateful ❤️

Great videos. Be advised, the adjustable wrenches u are using are meant to be used in a certain way. The small movable jaw leads the way. You were pushing hard, and that's when, if they are going to do so, will slip off. Channel locks, vice grips, spanner wrenches all are the same. GREAT KNUCKLE BUSTERS when used backward. Keep up the good work

Love the technical stuff. Educational videos are “evergreen” videos. People will rewatch them more often as they learn. Opposed to “day in the life of…” are entertaining videos, and require a lot more effort on your end to maintain viewers attention using carefully planned storytelling, artful videography, dramatic music, and technical editing. Also, you could leave out the “now I’m going to do a voiceover showing how I spliced the halyard”. We smart, we figure it out. Remember the first basic rule in storytelling. Show, don’t tell. Easy to do with a camera, harder to do with words on a page.

Parker, are you concerned about the affects of UV on the exposed Dyneema?
@Boundless_Adventure8 ай бұрын
Not partucularly. The coating which dyes the dyneema to match the color of the cover adds enhanced UV protection (per New England Ropes website) but from everything that I've read, dyneema is generally UV stable. I think if I notice the possibility of the exposed eye splice chafing on anything, particularly the mainsail halyard, ill add a cover of some sort.
@svjobeth62568 ай бұрын
Gotcha. Was just curious. With the quality of your splices, you should be good for a bit.

Hi Parker, great content. A 3/4” bronze street elbow has the lowest profile 90 degree turn for your water maker inlet. Nice to see you had some bronze fittings, but are you sure the 3/4” nipple is bronze? Make sure it is not brass, it will dezincify (dezincification) very quickly in seawater. Stay safe!
