It actually transitions from "who's going to sit on your face" to "who's going to sit on the fence", they have a tendency to sing fairly controversial lyrics that could sound like other things then in the official lyrics release them as the censored version.

This version had a different lineup to the released album version of Man Alive. Alex Niven was replaced by Alex Robertshaw.

@@LukeHerbertPlus I think EE also self-produced this version, but I could be wrong, maybe they'd brought on David Kosten by this time. I personally prefer this version, the harmonies are better and the guitars have more bite.

@@cagaming9724 guitars sound better but the bass is nonexistent on this version compared to how it is on spotify. When the verse started I was like “does Jeremy not start playing yet on this version?” But then I saw him playing and realised the mix was terrible. Maybe Alex Niven was the Lars Ulrich of his time and thought the bass should be really quiet and it became louder after he left? Without the bass it sounds super thin, considering the guitars are palm muted on clean tone it just feels empty.

​@@Aperez06. it's weird to me. It's like both versions have their advantages and this song seems incomplete in a way, on top of it not getting nearly enough attention despite how good it is. And Dirt 3, the game that helped this song get more popular, being from a different time makes this eerily nostalgic and out of place in today's time. I can't describe it but this is one of my favorite songs due it's uncanny but beautiful nature.

Just an amazing band. And it is a wonder how in hell they manage to incorporate so much diversity and styles into their music. And when I listen to this song I can't help but travel into the history of the rock music, from Captrain Beefheart, to YES, Pere Ubu, etc and at the same time recognize that they do have their own unique sound which is fresh and powerful. Ya, I love them and I can't wait to see their next album coming out!

If it wasn't for indie spots on BBC radio I'd not know half of the great stuff - there's about 3 hours in the week you can get some good stuff, that's it. In USA they have some incredible indie radio stations, especially outside of Miami - there's this woman who only plays vinyl on the radio it is absolutely incredible.

'who's gunna sit on your face when I'm gone?' is a term that women in the 1980s used, as they were campaigning for equal pay / workplace rights etc. This would link with the suffragettes who campaigned for the vote :) Some people online believe they may have said this a few time on purpose to make the link, or it may just be a coincidence, however it usually isn't a coincidence with EE ;), it may be why they haven't added the line to the official lyrics too.

I figured it was an intentional lyric but I wasn't sure if I was mishearing it or not. I agree that it isn't coincidental; EE's lyrics are too thought-out and rife with metaphor and imagery to attribute it to coincidence/filler. Also, interesting trivia.
