Slinky's response? *Everyone is already gathered.* For anyone who grew up with the first two films and remembered all the toys that attended Woody's staff meeting, seeing such a large population reduced to just under a dozen (combined with Slinky's response) gave the film *an eerily post-apocalyptic feel.*

The fact that the Incinerator scene, one of the darkest and most emotional moments from Pixar’s entire catalogue, is the emotional buildup to quite possibly the greatest Brick Joke in animation history. A 15 year buildup, and a scene that originally had comedic intent and was just a device to get Buzz and Woody taken by Sid turns out to be the very thing that saves the entire gang. The aliens running off to it even gives the audience the signal that it’ll happen, because you _know_ what’s coming with that thing. You don’t know when it’ll happen, and it makes the payoff all the more cathartic when the aliens save them. Finally, it’s the hilarity that the aliens worship the Claw as a god, and for a few short moments they controlled its hand. For a brief moment, _the aliens ascended godhood!_ Good for them.

Speaking solely from memory, I did not see The Claw coming. I was in full on mourning mode. But looking back years later after writing a lot of Sci-fi stories of my own...aliens are basically gods and Sufficiently Advanced Technology (or giant claws so big they're beyond the scope of toykind's imagination) is indistinguishable from magic, so this Deus Ex Machina is almost literal while still avoiding the, "came of of nowhere with no foreshadowing" problem that Deus Ex Machinas usually run into. I only saw Snoke's death coming because I liked to imagine suspiciously lightsaber-like blades coming off of literally everything and cutting the world to pieces around them as a kid, (I turned out fine) so I saw Snoke's decision to place such a deadly weapon within lethal range of him as...unwise. But looking back on Toy Story I just can't get mad. It was foreshadowed equally as well but I just didn't notice until well after the fact.

During the incinerator scene, my fully packed theater at the midnight premiere of this movie was as silent as they later would be when the credits rolled for Infinity War. And you could hear a lot of quiet sobbing during the ending, and a big, hushed “aww” when Andy pulled Woody away instinctively. Man.

Like, people can often times figure it out via context clues and how no other words sound like library, but it would still be wrong. When the smelter scene happened in cinema you could hear the brains of the parents there with their kids working as hard as they possibly could to come up with a good response, if PIXAR actually did it. And I must say: In a cinema of almost 2000 seats, mostly filled with families, you could hear on giant collective gasp as they held hands and after that just pure tension and quiet in all of the audience. An absolute masterpiece scene by PIXAR, earned by years of character development.

The Sunnyside scene hit me a special kind of hard when I saw the movie for the first time. See, my mum is an elementary teacher. When I was a teenager, I made the terrible mistake of giving her my old Toy Story toys for her class and they. All. Got. TRASHED. My Woody got his cord torn off and his hat came THIS close to being thrown in the trash, and Buzz lost his dome and one of his retractable wings, and the both of them had paint in various places. They were the lucky ones. Moral of the story: DON'T. GIVE. YOUR. TOYS. TO. AN. ELEMENTARY. CLASS.

This movie came out the same year I graduated high school and I went to see it with my little brother and sister. They did NOT understand why I was silent crying at the end. We literally grew up with the Toy Story movies. it was the end of my “childhood” and I considered this one the perfect ending of the franchise.

My kids grew up watching the 3 toy story movies, with most of the repeat watchings when they were between the ages of like 3-6 years old. We the adults would tear up when Andy gives away his toys, but the kids wouldn't. Recently we rewatched TS3 again and my oldest finally cried watching the ending at the age of 11 or 12. That's when I knew he was 'grown up' lol

Same! The first Toy Story was one of the first movies I saw in theaters as a child (I was 4 years old when it came out). I also remember getting to see Toy Story 2 with my whole second grade class because I had a super cool teacher who actually took us on a field trip to the movie theater! And then when Toy Story 3 came out, I had just graduated from high school and was starting college soon just like Andy, so it was really emotional to watch after growing up with the first two movies.

I'm a student animator and I've watched him give talks about it and he's very proud of the fact that he could put a slice of his culture in the movie, Spanish Buzz is mostly influenced by Flemenco dancers, so let's try to not get offended on others' behalf.

We took my nephew to see this when it released, he was 5 at the time. During the trash inferno scene he was dead silent. Slowly leaning further up in his seat, unblinking. The entire theater was as quiet as he was. My family and I were all watching him as much as the movie. When the claw descended to grab them he began openly sobbing and cried out "they saved them!" About Lotso’s fate: While he ultimately deserved it for all the horrific acts he did throughout the movie, but Lotso is resigned to what may well be a *Fate Worse than Death* at the end: Being tied to the front of a garbage truck to slowly deteriorate. A) Between the wind, the mud/dirt, the insects, time, and possibly the detritus, Lotso is doomed to rot away, and he will most likely *FEEL* it. Ladies and gentlemen, karma at its most vicious, and maybe well deserved if you're feeling like he really does deserve it. B) The front grills of trucks like that can get insanely hot as well, adding to the torment.

This movie is honestly as good if not better than the first two, though I’ve heard some dismiss it as not as good and relying more on nostalgia. Maybe because so many movies have come out in which your enjoyment is solely based on your nostalgia of a property? Granted nostalgia is a big part of this movie, but there’s a right way to do it. And this movie is an emotional rollercoaster that is one of Pixar’s greatest and a perfect sendoff to the trilogy (yes, trilogy).

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Today, we're a bit burnt out on nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. But it's not really fair to project today's experiences on a movie from 12 years ago. Plus, that's not what they did. Nostalgia isn't a selling point - it's the actual story. It's about growing up and what we lose in that process. It's why it gets us in the feels so much. We each feel our own wistfulness for what we left behind. That is not the same as Hollywood cynically trying to get butts in seats by showing Pac-man in the trailer, lol.

Something I love about these movies is how the animation stays consistent while also improving. There is no denying that the first movie's animations are groundbreaking for their time, but kinda jank today. Instead of distancing themselves from that, they artistically embraced it. Toy Story 2 is my favorite for nostalgia reasons, but 3 really hits right in the heart. The ending never fails to make me cry. I hope you enjoy Breath of the Wild! It’s such a wonderful game.

While I know that she's just a child, it irritated me that Bonnie seemingly forgets about her promise to look after Andy's toys in the fourth movie, which negates the heartwarming ending.

I know it irked a lot of people, but I liked that 4 pulled the ending of 3 back to reality a little bit. Of course Bonnie prefers to play with a piece of trash that she glued googly eyes on and imbued with personality herself instead of the same toy that Andy/we happen to have an emotional attachment to. The joke is on us, and, frankly, it's deserved. It's not immature to want to hold on to the things we cared about in childhood, but it IS immature to insist that other people should care about them the same way that we do, especially children.

This movie came out the year I first left my family to live at college. I’d never done that before. AND it was animation school, thanks to movies like this trilogy. ❤️❤️ So yeah, this was an awesomely timed release. Really proves how much these movies have meant to us.

Personally i still think that Woody was originally Andy's dad's. It's revealed that he's been around for decades, and Andy has him as long as he can remember. With the unwavering loyalty that Woody had towards Andy, it really suggests that Andy's dad "told" Woody to take care of Andy, and then likely died after passing on Woody. It fits with the story we see very, very well. It also makes passing on Woody to Bonny that much more tragic, and the ending of toy story 4 even more gut wrenching (as Woody finally decided to take care of himself first instead of trying to fulfill his duty) And this theory I've been thinking of before I even saw that there was a viral one about Andy's dad getting polio (which was debunked). The movies definitely hint something about Woody making a promise to look after Andy

I knew this day would come. I was so excited for Toy Story 3. It was all the rage during 2010. I really enjoyed seeing it at the drive-in theater with my family, and I even got it on DVD for Christmas of that year. Not only that, but one of my teachers from school made me a copy of the film’s soundtrack on CD in 2011.

Usually I don't laugh out loud at these videos; they're usually just my go-to for chill videos talking about good stuff about movies that aren't 2-hour video essays. However, the line: "Oh I drank right from the hose, and I'm alive" "You have lead poisoning, Mike" Was so out of left field that it was just hilarious.

One of my favorite childhood memories is of me and my little brother coming home from church (we were probably 5 and 6 at the time) and watching the end dance scene between Buzz and Jessie while acting it out. Memories made and my mom got it on camera, bonus. 🥰

This movie is easily one of my favorites of all time. It captures everything and as an imaginative person who played with his toys similar to Andy it always hits me a little to not be able to do that anymore. Me and my brothers would sit around in our room and constantly come up with storylines involving our toys. My favorite was I had a Megaman X Action figure who went full on Evil villain and took over the world and the heroes had to band together to stop him (I know he's the good guy but it was a very tall action figure which made for a very commanding presence). We actually had whole story arcs the first being the downfall of the good guys who failed to stop Megaman and the rest being the heroes building up a small collection of resistance forces to eventually overthrow the new tyrannical leader. It was fun. I've always adored the Andy scenes for this reason I have fond memories of doing the same and the third movie Nailed the insanity that was going through my brain when I played with my toys. Probably why I get so into DnD these days. The inevitability that is the passage of time and moving on to new things hits hard with this movie and I just can't help but to get all emotional at the end.

I was watching this movie one time with a few friends from high school during our senior year. This was years after it had first come out and all of us had seen it and knew of the ending. Even so, before the junkyard scenes, we’d be making jokes and comments and whatnot with each other as it went along but everything after had us completely silent. Looking around, it was quite a sight to see about eight 17/18-year-olds (myself included) trying their best to not start bawling their eyes out in front of their friends. I dunno, just one of those memories about watching a film that sticks with you.

I absolutely LOVED Toy Story 3 and I thought it was the perfect end to the series. The last scene really got me emotional since what happened to Andy was something that all of us have experienced. Even just watching this got me emotional again.

Man, I love this movie for so many reasons. Toy Story 2 was my favourite movie of all time as a kid I watched it at least once a week untill I was 11. But the biggest reason is because this was one of the only theatre experiences I've had with both my parents. We usually split up because my little sister wantend to watch another movie. Seeing this with my entire family crying at the incinerator scene is one of my core memories.

I loved the opening sequence of this movie. Such a great realisation of what playtime feels like as a kid. Here's my obligatory comment/wish for you to do Everything Great About V for Vendetta and for extra cool points publish it on the 5th of November. Such a great slow-burn thriller that is severely underrated even today.

I remembering seeing this in theaters in my early 20's and the entire theater being filled with similarly aged people. And the reveal of Mr. Potato Head as a tortilla sent someone in the theater into a hysterical laughing fit for a good 5 minutes. The ending genuinely made me teary eyed of Andy passing on all the toys but happy at the same time. I haven't watched 4 because I don't know if I have the heart for it now approaching 30. Looking forward to the video though

Sure, Lotso may have gotten off light at first, but really think about it; he's strapped to a grill, unable to move, he'll be catching a lot of bugs according to the other stuffed animals, which are rotting away next to him from being on there for who knows how long (imagine being trapped in a room with corpses). Plus he'll be out in the sun all the time, which will heat the metal of the grill to scorching levels, and completely exposed to the elements. He'll be begging for death, or to be lost again. Even if he does eventually get free, he'll be completely alone; no friends, no home and will probably be too weak to carry on. After all he's done, he doesn't deserve something as sweet as death.

Incredible how every time I watch this darn movie I always start uncontrollably sobbing when Andy sees 'Woody' waving back at him and gasps and you can see all these emotions, sadness, confusion, some fear that maybe he should have kept them, and then finally the 'thanks guys' holy hot gosh darn I canNOT contain the tears. Also please do Flushed Away!! That movie was a big part of my childhood.

This movie hit me so hard. I was about the same age as Andy. I literally grew up with toy story. And I had a toy/pillow that I have had since I was born. So I know how Andy felt about Woody. I'm not crying your crying 😢 😭

I grew up with this series. I was about Andy's age for every movie. This movie came out my senior year of high school. The ending makes me bawl every time and I deff held onto some of my favorite toys way longer than I should have because of it

That incinerator scene, goooods... The whole time I was bouncing between "This can't be the end of the movie, there's gotta be something that'll get them out of there!" and "Oh noooo, they're all accepting it, this...This might actually BE the ending. :o " And then the claw happens. I full on cracked up and applauded. Absolute win, AND it was a great gag too. Seriously, one heck of a movie. Also partially why it gave me some real feels when I cleared out my childhood room for the last time when I moved out. Digging through years and years of old toys that haven't left the drawer in a decade, knowing you're only taking like 3 of your favourite plushies with you? Hard enough without Toy Story planting ideas in your brain. XD

Man, I thought I'd be fine watching this. Surely this wouldn't make me cry _again._ I was wrong. I have a hard time letting go even now, and this movie repeatedly calls me on it. Love it. Also, I won't give it away, but I both understood and appreciate the tease for the next video.
