I feel the frustration with the “minimalist community” weird standards and counting items. Everything I own fits into a studio apartment with room to roam but because I love tapestries and have a lot of posters my friends with full houses of stuff tease me that I’m not a real minimalist. Its easy to brush it off one or two comments, but over time I feel the frustration. Everyone’s journey is different and there should not be a weird pressure to only own 100 items or whatever

HOnestly, seems pretty cool. You still have 'less' material things than most people although not as organized as other minimalist but, really, I can see that all your things are either essential or you love it! What non-minimalists (or fake minimalist), what gives them away, is mostly how sometimes they don't know what most of what they own or they just consider most of their storage 'messy' (or they have junk JUNK drawers but hidden away). The most important as a minimalist, in consideration for the things they own, is their system. If everything has a use and has a place then that's all that matters, not the number of things they own.

For the jars (if you’re looking to replace the old broke ones 😹), you could just reuse food jars that you get from the shops. Been doing that since uni, saves recycling waste and money. 😅 (yes, i drink out of them... as in for wine too...) or use them to grow out plant cuttings / grow water based plants too / keep your herbs a lot more fresh and alive / grow your veg scraps (for the roots to grow out). Self isolating low waste activities :D and for decluttering the jars, you could message the bulk / refill store if they would take them or not. (Especially with the virus going around right now.) Would suggest to sanitise them first before donating, it’s one less shitty thing to do. 😏

You are DEFINITELY a minimalist, no idea how any person can say otherwise. I have more than 300+ clothing pieces, which drive me insane sometimes. They're a collection of everything from approx. age 15 to now. I am 26. Should really get rid of loads of stuff, but I find that throwing away = waste, and donating is a bit hard because organisations already have alot of clothing they can't get rid of... plus I don't own a car to transport all of this. I am striving for an 'essentialist' lifestyle, which is working quite well for me in all areas except for clothing (obviously). I made some huge progresses esp. buying organic, vegan, zero waste, natural (🙄) products. Long way to go, wish me luck, ya'll :)
