We're looking at going on Ventura with our 2 children, 10 and 6. I'm worried it will be too dated for us. But price wise it's brilliant! When did you go? And what ports? I'm worried the weather might be rubbish and the sea might be rocky. Thanks for your review they are helpful!

Thanks for your review! I’m so tempted to do my first solo cruise and thinking of booking the Ventura. I do say it will be solo however I will have my toddler twins with me so will be solo parenting. What did you think of the family kids club areas? Also might be a silly question - but do you think a small double pram would fit in the walk ways leading to rooms/cabins etc! Thanks again for your review. Have subscribed!

I agree regarding the dress code. I used to work as an Officer with P&O and although I loved getting dressed up for formal night, I didn’t like how it was enforced. Dressing up is nice, but it should be optional. I agree it probably puts some younger people off cruising!

B*****ks to any enforced formal wear. I’d never do that. It’s a holiday.

Virgin Voyages does this amazingly, dress in what makes you feel good, no one is judged, go wear what you want. It’s insane that people get so upset about it who cares !

I thought the Ventura was pretty good for cleanliness. I thought Britannia was unclean. I did like Ventura my favourite ship so far . Customer service wasn’t great for us ,neither was the captain , but the MDR staff were excellent. Entertainment wise it was okay but not the standard it once was. I do agree P&O offer good value for money,and we have had some great cruises with P&O . Just a few things they need to improve.

Tbf tho it racks up a lot more than 599 , if you add drinks packages , internet package , upgrade cabins ……. Ps I love haven holidays too , this will be instead of haven this year , bit fed up of English weather tho now .

Azura we had raw sewage come up thru the shower drain, a stinky sock under the bed. most of the week no water in the bathroom. every day had to report plumbing problems and scalding hot water coming from the cold tap when there was running water.Food was bland, nothing seasoned. other E deck mid ship cabins also had problems. Gala nights, guys were being refused or asked to leave when at the table for taking off their suit jackets BUT infront of us was a gut wearing flip flops, cut off shorts and a hoodie built like a brick shit house and he was let in!! Yes axe the dress code.

Totally agree on the dress codes- can't understand why people bothered by what other people wear. Would like to hear your opinion of the buffet.

Got to chip in on p&o dress code, my partner and I got chucked out of the Arvia main dinning room on formal night (we wore smart shirts and a short sleeve shirt) and we still don’t know why they did this. They told us we weren’t properly dressed and made us feel really uncomfortable that we had to leave
@Moncs702 ай бұрын
As a Formal dress enthusiast. This seems grossly unfair. Sad to hear this.
@Moncs702 ай бұрын
Dress code: Their dress code is clear. They dont have Formal every night but when they do it is not black tie, it is smart. I don't think your advice of 'wear what you like' is valid. But I do think your advice of follow their guidelines is perfect. FWIW I wear full black tie but would not turn my nose up that those who do, nor would I want to see anyone wearing short sleeves as part of their formal wear turned away. That is 'code adjacent' and we are all on holiday afterall. But Jeans, T-Shirts even Polos are not. If that is how you enjoy your hols GREAT for the majority of the nights I'll join you but on Formal nights You need to stick to the bars and buffet suggested. Not to be judged, just so you can relax.

I appreciate your thoughts on the dress code! It's great to hear different perspectives, especially when it comes to finding a balance between comfort and style during vacations.
@Moncs70Ай бұрын
@@DannyDalimore Very true. Interestingly enough I think P&O have branding within their branding: Azura and Ventura are smaller, older and much more 'Cunard on a budget' Largely appealing to an older middle/aged clientele but also to Families who are sensible with their holiday budgets (For which, BTW, I salute and I *was* you back in the day.) The newer, bigger boats are the more in the vein of looking forward and minimalising formality and Brittania flip flops between the two depending on itinerary. Good that we can share views and agree on the important point: Holidays are for sharing and enjoying together not conflict, confrontation and self entitlement. Here's to the next one!
