Worth noting that, similar to the Splatanas 1 shot not being something you can absorb, a Roller can easily run you over if they get close enough. Dynamo might be too slow for it due to the Toxic Mist effect, but Flingza and Reg Roller can pose a challenge if you don't have teammates near Carbon and Brushes can technically get you if you're weak but that's obviously not reliable Great video still!

One more thing to note with tri color turf war if the sprinkler is active you can aim up and absorb the shots as they come out. It doesn't help too much though as it fills up the ink vac almost instantly.

If you can predict when an opponent will use a special this could be absurdly strong. There is a fairly decent amount of start up time though which means for a lot of these you won’t be able to react to them, still probably gonna be one of the best support specials in the game (not including tactoci-cooler)

They definitely can, that's honestly one of the strongest specials in this mode since you can use it both offensively and defensively and get massive advantage for either countering entirely the ennemy wielding it or protecting your mate holding it from every ennemy attack.

The only reason why I care about this weapon is for the Splatoon World's equivalent of Luigi's Mansion. We know that there are Mario games in the Splatoon world, except Mario is called Maguro (that means Tuna in japanese). He's mentioned in a Pearl interview from the Splatune Octotune Booklet. We don't know what Luigi's Inkling name is, but I personally name him Meiji. It doesn't start by an L but it's the closest I could find, and it's how very young tunas are called in japanese, and it makes sense for both Mario and Luigi's Splatoon counterparts to be named after tunas if they're brothers. Also Maguro, and presumably Meiji too, wear dark blue hats, not red and green hats. We see a poster of Maguro in Splatoon 2 with an Inkling that's definitly Maguro wearing a blue hat with eyes (the only confirmed Maguro game : Maguro Odyssey). My interpretation on this is that the colors of their hats/shirts and of their overalls from their humans counterparts have been swapped. But we can't know for sure. But it would make sense for them to have blue as their main color like that since Maguro is often associated with the bluefin tuna, even though Maguro is technically a generic term that includes all kinds of tuna. From this point on, this is only theory about Maguro. Since Mario wears a hat and overalls, I think Maguro wears a Splatoon 2 Salmon Run outfit (literally a hat and overalls) but with Maguro's colors (red and blue for the overalls, hat and shirt, white for the gloves and brown for the boots) and a bing Inkling M instead of the Grizzco symbol. Therefore, I think that the replacement for Koopas are Salmonids. And I like to think that the replacement for Koopas entering their shell is Salmonids tripping and falling into their frying pan and not managing to get back up, giving us the opportunity to push them around. Besides, in Bowser's Fury, Mario can enter a shell and go around in it. I like to imagine Maguro going around sitting in a frying pan in Bowser's Fury Splatoon equivalent. Speaking of Bowser, since he his a big Koopa, his Splatoon equivalent must me a big Salmonoid. I came up with the name Mawser (Maws × Bowser. It's crazy how all the important names start by M in Maguro), and I even designed him but I can't show it here. Finally, I think that the last thing I have to say is that there's an official concept art of Super Maguro Bros' box art, which shows that fire balls (which are likely to be ink balls) are some kind of pink squares filled with black and a small white square in one of the corners of the black part. Do whatever you want with all that information.

Fun fact: when a teammate is in a direct booyah bomb, if timed before the special goes off and aimed at the teammate, you should be able to allow said teammate to avoid death. I haven't tested it but I saw it I someone else's replay when someone did it for them.

I've been using it in clam blitz this way. It's amazing. I'll pop out ink vac when being aggressive and team is able to safely pick them off or score clams. If they're pushing I'll use it defensively near my basket and they can't push past as long as I adjust right and the team jumps in for the easy splats. It's amazing.

It honestly depends on the situation. If they plan to use it as a shield push tactic, then it might be better to have a lot of your team-feed it early so they becomes vulnerable quicker with the obvious risk being the stronger explosion, but keep in mind they can’t swim in that state so they’d either be a sitting duck or take a panic shot at their feet. On the other hand, if they’re using it in more selfish positions or just using it to disrupt you, ignoring them is often better. - Opinions from a Tenta Brella peep who’s had more than enough Ink Vac plays and fails

I find it funny, but also intriguing how many players, casual, and pro, think the ink vac isn’t all that too special when it was first revealed, but then once we saw more of it during the Enter the Splatlands Invitational tournament, as well as use it more when the game dropped, people start to learn more about it, and gain a liking for it too!

I think on paper the Ink Vac seems really powerful, but it's important to remember that Splat 1 & 2 had specials that outright granted immortality (Baller, Bubbler, Kraken) with very little counterplay. Alternatively, Vac is trickier to use (you're only protected from a narrow cone in front of you) and has counterplay/weaknesses (can be rushed or surrounded, can't do damage while sucking, can still be crushed or slashed). I have some concerns that the ability to completely no-sell most specials might be a little overpowered (especially on the Splat Charger/Scope, since if you're in a good position area-denial specials are one of your major weaknesses). It might also be super meta in any sort of coordinated play, since you can coordinate pushes where you pocket an ally. It's still got really cool design though, and I hope we continue to see weapons with it in its kit.

does the thrown wave breaker before it activates get sucked up? and im curious about indirect inkjet, crabtank, bomb and explosher explosions (im assuming it’s the same as many of the other things, but some dealt damage even when sucked up so im unsure) as well as roller flicks up close since the wipers can, though im assuming these wouldve been mentioned in the video or pinned comment if they still killed…do these no longer have melee hitboxes?) also it looked like active vacuum is immune to tri strikes even from behind, so that makes me wonder more with the other things if anyone knows the answers to any of these, could you please enlighten me? 😅
