Already applied for the video editor position couple of days ago and awaiting for the results. Being a creator (and a breeder myself) I fully understand the workload behind the scene. 1. Very happy about the news about the German Channel, you will have my full support, and for some time now I have also been seriously considering being a "member" of your channel. I don't remember how many years I've been following this channel, it has always been one of my favorites, maybe now is the time with this new project. 2. "Shorts": In this context I only see the "Shorts" useful or attractive to perhaps show how you create a simple Scape quickly and accelerated, and always as a small excerpt of a "long video" and not as a unique creation . That is to say, in the context of Aquascape/ Aquaristik I see the "Short" as useful as a means to advertise a long video, as if it were in a "Movie Trailer", not as "unique content or creation". I'm a relatively new follower to this channel, and I was drawn here by your original Pro-Tip series! Your videos really helped me with my second aquarium and going with a fancier hardscape (dragonstone arches). I'd love to watch more of your pro-tips as you make new videos, but maybe I'm too old to appreciate the "Shorts" format. I'm excited for the pro tip videos, the only problem I forsee with the Shorts format is that they are well... short. If the quality of information goes down to account for the loss of time, I would prefer long form videos. However you could release both a long form video and a Short (with highlights/main points of the long form video) alongside each other.

I believe 60 seconds is plenty of time to share even complex technique if information is packed densely, and usually most pro tips originated from long form content

I can honestly say the only shorts I watch are animal comedy - something for a quick laugh. If you've got some fishy comedy, great. Otherwise I'll stick to your videos, which I really appreciate - you provide excellent content! By the way, it was wonderful to meet you at the demo and hear you share your experience in Lisbon during the banquet at the Raleigh NC AGA convention! I'm not really a fan of shorts, but maybe you could post compilations every 10 shorts or so to sort of play both sides? About shorts, perhaps listen to other KZbinrs on this one. I'm not one, but from what I understand you get very little ad revenue per video but you get a lot of views because you play to the algorithm, so it's not necessarily the best idea unless you can use the views to get sponsorships. One thing I've seen KZbinrs do is still focus on making a full video but then editing clips into shorts. The shorts can link people to the main video if they want to know more. That way people that want full videos don't have to be forced to watch shorts if they don't like the format, but you still get the shorts algorithm to bring people to your channel. That said, I don't really know what I'm talking about, I'm not a KZbinr, and I'm sure real content creators have their reasons for why they make shorts. Best of luck with growing the channel!

Ironically majority of my viewers are also watching shorts (according to insights I get from KZbin) but I think it’s mostly mindless scrolling and most feel betrayed afterwards. Happens to me all the time. I appreciate the feedback on this topic and will take my time working out a strategy that will suit both - the audience and the channel

I think the best thing you could do is bring shorts and reels into your current content and make sure that each outlet offers info/tips etc that the others don't. If the content is repedative then it doesn't help.

@@JurijsJutjajevs WhatsApp might be a good start. It would be a nice experiment to see if people follow through. Suggest to start with something simple. Substrate choice might be a good choice, but will take some time. Plants would be the most common one, suggest no CO2. Interesting to see what the effect is due to other factors.

It's best to put them on another channel though they can mess up things in the algo for your normal long form content. It's a bit of a controversial topic but probably not worth the risk in Jurijs situation.

It used to be like that when they first started, meanwhile the algorithm is supposed to handle shorts and podcasts separate from long term. But you are right, I’m in constant debate whether should live streaming again and if so, if I should do on main or separate live channel 🤷

We have a lot of super heated debates over on Reddit about issues with shorts viewers short attention spans ruining long form content retention stats. Then the KZbin algo thinking the content is less valuable. It makes sense in theory so a lot of people have been splitting the channels just to be safe. But it ultimately depends on the % of shorts viewers you have in your sub mix. A lot of shorts viewers will see a notification for long form content and ignore it as well....
