Yep.... They push all the San Diego natives out, my family been here 4 generations, with cost of living. Make it impossible to live then move in immigrants and investors.... They don't give a damn... The mayors corrupt they have no accounting or transparency for how they spend our tax money and the crime and homeless is out of control. According to their own books they have received 1.3 million for every homeless person, man women and child yet the homeless grows and no answers are given. F*uc*k S.D government

I live in San Diego and Terminal 1 is not an expansion, it's a brand new Terminal and supposed to open in 2025. The whole project to be completed in 2028.

SAN only has one runway and overnight flights are banned because of noise control for the homes. Not a great international airport.

@@mobilesuitek7e Considering it's the 8th largest city in the country the airport is small. That said, you can fly non stop to many european cities fron SAN. Most people like it because it is right in the middle of the city which is pretty rare in the US so it's easy for visitors.

@@mikeberg5003as a local, I hate that the airport is in the middle of the city. Traffic is horrible right in the heart of the city everyday. Everyone is sd hits traffic from the back up in the freeways rooting from the downtown area. It backs up all the other freeways. My 10 mile trek to work takes me 45 minutes on a good day and over an hour guaranteed on my way home

I worked at Liberty station for a couple years. That new build site was the location of our offices which were the officer’s houses. Really cool homes that I hope they don’t tear down. Most likely they will use them for the restaurants and their huge grassy areas for the new buildings. Regarding the arena, I worked on that site for a few months. Cool to see it completed.

I had a friend go there between 2004-2008 and that’s the last time I saw the campus until recently. It’s really changed, almost every parking lot has been filled in with tall buildings for student housing, it has a skyline you can see from the 5 freeway.

Born and raised... As of right now, there's nearly NO public use space in Seaport Village. A couple of small parks. The majority of it is retail space with rent that is way too high. All that said, I don't want to see it change at all. Lots of good memories from my childhood.

Is good that the airport is getting a new terminal, however, what it really needs is a new runway. It can’t keep up. We almost had a massive catastrophe a few weeks ago due to a runway incursion that ATC caused due to large amount of traffic.

recent news is that seaport was pushed back by 2 years due to a lack of funds, riverwalk was also paused during 2023 but has restarted i think for the affordable portion

I do have a question - for about the last 5 or 6 years I’ve heard about Sea Port Village becoming the home of the Eye in The Sky Ferris wheel. When or is going to be a reality ? Just sold my vacation condo in Coronado Shores last month. The unit that I inherited from my father who purchased it in 1974 and had not been on the market since. Did a major renovation when I took it on back in 2007. All new glass, all new interiors. Should it for a massive profit. Was nice to have but Coronado is a bit too crowded these days and the Tijuana sewage issue will never resolve.

@@ColetteSpencer-k5o This sewage problem from Tijuana has been going on since at least the 1970's. Even worse, the Navy SEAL trainees swim in that. I would imagine that they train on days when the pollution is not as bad but then I presume the Navy knows what it's doing.

@kennixox262 my husband is a seal. Retired. They used to swim in coronado. Now that they moved the base to ib, the pollution is interfering with their training. It's a serious problem. Not sure what will happen. Coronado is polluted as well...just don't like to talk about it. Tragic.

In front of the Del, a local TV news reporter was interviewing a local person and talking about "OUR SEALS", interesting statement; but it was in regards to the pollution. Glad I sold my two units for a very hefty profit.

Riverwalk is actually a sequel project to the One Paseo in Del Mar. It’s kinda cool I loved a lot of the places in the area. It’s said that this still of living is becoming more popular across the country. Crazy expensive though from when I last looked

The river trail area, as it currently stands, is quite concerning due to the presence of homeless individuals living there, especially east of the 8 freeway, outside of Ocean Beach, and towards Mission Valley. I used to ride my bike from Ocean Beach to Balboa Park or into North Park/Normal Heights via the trail, but I was constantly navigating around homeless encampments. My wife works in Mission Valley, near the trail, and she often expresses her desire to eat lunch along the river, but she doesn't feel safe doing so. I hope that the riverwalk project will help improve the area.

I bought a property in an unincorporated part of SD. I built my house after the original burned down. The new property tax is around $15k and insurance shot up $10k in the last year totaling around $14,400. Aside from all the other rhings we are forced to overpay for, I will jave to sell necause retiring is not an option. Property taxes are aupposed ro go up too. Ill never own anything here.

I love Seaport Village and I'm sad about the changes but cities don't stay the same forever. My thought of an "urban beach" is good luck with that since there are seals in the area. La Jolla Children's pool says hello 🤣

New Terminal 1 is a whole new Terminal that will open in 2 phases. Phase 1 will open late summer 2025. It is not adding 30 gates, it’s adding 11 gates as the current terminal 1 is 19 gates and the new terminal 1 will be 30 gates total.

These sound like amazing developments.But I'm worried about Seaport Village, especially the beach. There is an enormous pollution problem in S,D, right now due to sewage at the Mexican border. It truly is a crisis and they are going to be spending billions to clean it up. I'm hoping for the best and keeping my fingers crossed because San Diego is an amazing place.

I just flew back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I live in Orange County and in P.V. is very nice. I am retired from an Auto & Home Insurance Co. after 22 years. I am looking for a Vacation Home and I have gone to Palm Springs and surrounding areas. But in P.V. you can buy a home or condo there right on the beach. Most of the area's there have private beaches for only the tenants. The beach's there are beautiful. The Homes and condos are really nice some have rooftop pools with beautiful views of the city and the Ocean. I have a house and condo that are rental properties. So, I am looking to sell both of them.

@@ColetteSpencer-k5oYes, it is either Guadalajara, Mexico or Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I flew back From Guadalajara back in February of this year It is beautiful there. I went to visit a co-worker there and stayed one week at his home. Oh Man! his house is beautiful with a pool. The new homes there are more modern like in Miami, Fla. but that was before I went to P. V. for the first time, and I loved it. The Homes there have some old Mexican style floors and stairs with the original tyle and still updated kitchens and bathrooms which are beautiful. I love the mix of old and new. I liked it better than Cabo.

The big problem with the dumb airport expansion: the airport being in the middle of the city! The bottleneck of having only 1 runway and no way to expand. You can add all the gates you want, all it's going to do is more curfew violations and disturbing the peace of people living here
