If you’re gonna use the stego for exploration I recommend u put its plates on heavy mode. It basically makes Dino’s u attack unable to sprint for some time which makes it easy to spam attacks on them without getting hit. Especially good at fighting pack Dino’s

Time to backseat! I get the feeling that Syntac doesn't fully understand the Stego's plate system for combat purposes. He's using Sharpened Plates in combat, which I'd say are the most niche of the three (and is one of the main reasons he's getting beaten up so much in the video), as their only combat benefit is a 30% armor pen. What you really want to use a majority of the time is the Hardened and Heavy Plates. I'll start with Heavy, as it's a bit more specialized, but it's also unbelievably strong in the right scenarios. Heavy plates will make your primary attacks slow targets on hit. This pairs really well with the Stego's reach and knockback, allowing you to beat most creatures without getting hit, as they'll never close the distance on you. Then there's the Hardened Plate, which is your all-round "safe" option for combat. It simply halves the damage your Stego receives, making it really good in fights where you can't simply out-space a slowed opponent(s).

I can forgive him because you'd think sharpened plate mode would mean a damage boost, but no, it's specifically armor penetrating for some reason which makes it completely functionless on a solo world or a PvE sever. Also heavy plate mode is just busted, if you're fighting anything light enough to take knockback it is essentially 100% damage negation

The reason all the saddles are so high level is lore wise to get here you had to clear the island and scorched earth so (again lore wise) you should have a high level character the moment you arrive here

This is giving me ASE aberration launch vibes where ravagers and raptors were everywhere. Now we have the yi lings to worry about. They are so aggressive and hard to kill with out a gun. Also yeah deinosuchus spawn on this map making the rivers a tad bit more dangerous

If you're going to tame a Ravager, try building a trap around it after using a Bola on it, just 1 stone foundation, 4 stone window walls, and a stone ceiling, it won't be able to jump and it's perfectly trapped

I always did the same thing but I put a double door on one end and just ran it into the trap. I think you might be able to do the same thing on ASA if you put another door on the opposite end but it would be tricky, bear traps might work but you would probably trap yourself.

You mentioning cyropods reminded me that there is an .ini setting for the Dino Depot mod that auto converts cryopods into the soul ball things. I don't know if you have plans to add that mod to this server, but if you did, you could turn that setting on and just not craft the soul balls on their own? Just a thought to get the benefits of the soul balls while having them cost more than 1 crystal.

climbing picks are like walking in a mine field, it just keeps rolling the dice on whether or not you get flung a million miles away from the map and make your character unusable, or if you'll continue to steadily climb

For blue gems just follow roll rats they’ll go underground and when they come up they drops random gems in stacks of like 15-30 Edit: do be careful tho taking the gems causes the rat to go aggro

To answer your question about stegosaurus and carnotaurus living together: Well the carno was alive in the Maastrichtian epoch (late Cretaceous 72 million years ago) and in Argentina As for the Stego it was alive in the Kimmeridgian and Oxfordian periods (late Jurassic 159-144 million years) and in the Northen hemisphere only mainly Us and Portugal where Im from To put that in perspective the recently described this year Yanbeilong ultimus is the latest surviving stegodaurid and it lived 100 million years ago so not nearly enough for it to meat our Abelisaurid friend

Ravagers can indeed jump over 1 wall gotta be 2 high, I use 4 stone dino gate w 2 doors takes a bit of timing w placing the doors while running but I’ve been using it for everything on the map basically, also you can get a Yi Ling for basically free, build a 2x2 that has the tall single doorframe 2 walls tall on each side so it costs 4 foundations and 16 doorframes(walls)

for cosmo go to the portal spawn area, they spawn alot there, there also are plant y there to get a seed to instatame any cosmo, and you can use left ctrl to reel urself in with the web and shift to go down

For the stego, keep it on hardened plate-you take half damage. If you’re fighting ravagers use the heavy plate, because it slows and with the amount of knock back it deals it’s great. I’ve killed alpha raptors with level 20 stego tames. Saw a 150 once and killed that with my max level stego, came it with 1k damage from a max level alpha raptor. They take some time to learn but they’re beasts when you do

The only places I remember for good metal nodes in ASE were in the blue zone. There might be some in the tunnels leading to the surface. I remember one of them in the green zone has radioactive spores. Mushroom soup might negate the damage. It's only one damage at a time but that adds up especially when traveling anywhere on Aberration where everything wants to eat you every ten steps.

For just starting there are nice spots even in green zone, but I dont remember any being at the lake. Some were around the portal lake. I think near each surface entrance there was something at ground level. And maybe around the spots where green meets blue.

There are a few rich metal nodes in green. They are along the cliff next to the long waterfall at the end of the river.

I don't remember a radiation surface cave, but there is one at Fertile Lake 1 that makes you hallucinate, and you can eat the brown mushrooms to be immune before going in.

The slow ability on the stego is really useful on creatures that it can knock back. The armor ability is good for if you're fighting something like a spino or paracer

I recommend a 2 by 2 by 2 trap. start with two walls high on 3 sides and 1 wall high on the side with the ramps. when you trap the ravagers you can place the last two walls to complete the box (and I recommend making ceilings as well to cap them off just in case. I had a ravager glitched out of a capped off 2 by 2 by 1 trap by jumping on top of another ravager.

Its probably best to make the walls 2 high just in case. No need to risk it after all. And you and Axe are very different build wise. The main difference is your works are elaborate and functional while axe does the bare minimum that also looks good.

Syn you gotta use heavy plates on the stego for fighting it does a slowness that makes your knockback 10× more useful epecially with stuff like raptors and ravagers.

Syntac and I went about this very differently. I simply made a crossbow and some grappling hooks, a few wooden spike fences, found a ravaged, grappled up into the air on the side of a cliff wall and shot it until it knocked out, lowered myself down and put some spike walls around it. Think I knocked out about 5 or 6 at once doing this and found an ovis and mutton tamed them all

Ravagers drop torpor very slowly. Combine that with easy access to mutton throughout the Mushroom Forest on Aberration and you can build your pack one at a time. With just primitive crossbows I would drive by to kill the ones I don't want. Then bola the one I do want. While it is snared by the bola, I would shoot 8-10 tranq arrows then run like heck. Give a count of about 30 to reset the bola immunity. Go in and repeat. Even a 145-150 should only take about three rounds before it is running like crazy. But then I've normally been big on the Ark NTT (No Trap Taming).

Honestly the aquatic mushrooms are better. I relied on them for my whole playthrough on ase and it was fine. Also, they're amazing to have on your hotbar in case you run into those freezing spores in the blue zone. Water, and a freeze reducer in one

I just tamed a ravager & you definitely need the trap to be 2 walls high. I built a 2 by 2 & had no problems taming but I just tested if he could jump over 1 wall & he can.

The way I’m getting around is by reusible grapple and parachute best starter way!!! I find the tallest metal pillar climb it then parachute off then use the ceiling border to grapple and yea it’s awesome!!! 😀👍

Relating to your debate on whether to go 1 wall or 2 walls high for a Ravager trap: I used your "Shadowmane technique" when taming my first Ravager. I bola'd it, surrounded it with fence foundations, and popped doorways onto them. I only went 1 wall high, but I backed way up while I was tranq-ing it so it wouldn't try to jump at me/over the doorframes.

I got ambushed while trying to set my trap up. I had already put down a 3 x 3 foundation square.Ended up boxing my self in then built a box around the ravenger trying to get in . The other one got bola’d then spammed a foundation under it and built a 1x1 box with a ceiling around it. So that’s an option for a lone ravenger. Ended up punching and clubbing it out after my tranqs ran out. Damn things can take a lot of punches to the face.
