A couple big things you guys missed/didn't mention: Bullet resistant panels+can jump on the tonneau cover, and great crash safety. Next, the range extender will be in the front of the bed, not the subtrunk or panel that was shown. I also am not sure we have confirmed that there are stainless steel panels under the bed liner. It may actually mount directly to the rear casting or other structure. I'd be happy to be wrong here though. Other than that a pretty good overview, nice work!

A couple things you missed. First, small caliber bullet proof. Second, the cover is rated to support 300 lbs.If you jump on it, it will deform.
@Masoneer
@Masoneer 6 ай бұрын
@@krane15 Repeated rounds in tight grouping will cause penetration after a few hits if those hits are strong enough to cause deformation. This is evident in the full gun test video Tesla put out. One does go through and damages the window. Which is why I said resistant instead of bullet proof. I'm not knocking it, that's streets ahead of anyone else... and Yes, while Tesla says 300 for the cover, Matt Watson from CarWow is clearly jumping on it repeatedly with no signs of deformation. Granted, he is not the heaviest person, and it's probably not the best idea.

The truck just needs to be reliable and get the range that it’s estimated to have as well as any other EV. The range extender is just there to make people feel better about not getting 500 miles. I doubt it will actually be implemented and if it is, few people will opt for it as 300 + EPA miles on a lifestyle truck that will be for showing off and trips to Home Depot will be fine. If you want to tow long distances get something else. Problem solved. For me this is a truck with very interesting capabilities, priced competitively in a very impractical and ugly shell. But I’m happy for those who like it. To each their own.

Single motor variant will never be available in 2025. More like 2028 if it even goes into production. Also, why doesnt it have top speed shown? Maybe because they have no idea. Also, the range extender 2nd battery just fits in the front of the bed by the window, not in the little cubby. Also, it doesnt have the awesome rear ramp that pulls out from itself, it's a much worse model than the concept, which Elon himself said he hates when cat companies do this, he said the vehicles should end up being better than the concept, not worse which is always the case, now he did the same damn thing. So disappointed in him on this one. Also, I will buy my Cyberbeast when the prices come down, and they WILL come down in 2-3 years at the latest. I'll buy the Cyberbeast at $80k. I disagree with your assessment on the single motor version, it seems utterly pointless for the price you're paying. 250 miles of Tesla-estimated range, so around 220 in the real world. Can't tow too much, and if you try you are going to obliterate the range. Not particularly quick for an EV truck either. Shipping in 2025, maybe, by which time even the novelty factor will be gone. And it's still $61k.

This is not a truck. It's a truck-like-thing. Real work trucks all have lumber racks like mine, and are fork lift loadable. Drywall in the bed, lumber up top. It's 100% clear that sheets of drywall won't fit in the tapered bed. Also, I would love to see this with a rack and toolboxes installed. LMAO. It's 100% clear that no-one that was on the design team for this thing has ever actually done real work with their vehicles. The innovations on this have nothing to do with the truck-like aspects; that's for damn sure. That said, the steering, and power, and potential are all relevant. But; they should be put into an actual truck, rather than a stupid design my 4 year old dreamt up. Also, you must go hybrid, with a combo of hydrogen and battery if you're ever going to make electric long-range legitimate; especially when towing. 450 miles? That's literally the morning part of the drive. Where's the other 2/3 of the day? You going to unload a trailer so you can pull this into a charging station (which is 99% likely to NOT be an actual fast-charger) every 240 or 350 miles (after spending an added $16K?)? Yikes.

The steering controller is NOT a wheel. Its a hexagon. The biggest problem with this Cyber truck is it inconsistency with the rest of the automobile industry. Nothing wrong with being different. However, this vehicles is different just to be different, not because it a better or safer or more convenient way to drive. In fact, for 9 out 10 changes, it makes driving more complicated and a lot less safe and convenient. For example, the need to take your eyes off the road and turn your head to the side and down to look at the display. Instead of glancing up to look to the rear, you turn to the right and look down. If that's not bad enough, you only have one screen, and if that ever goes out for any reason you end up dead in the water. That's the most important reason for two screens as seen in every other car on the market. In fact, for most of the rest of the auto industry, you can swap the display from the infotainment to the instrument panel. The infotainment display should aid in driving, but you should never be dependent on it to drive. Finally, if the extended range batter was plug and play, it would have a lot of value and might be worth the extra cost to a lot of people. However, you not only have to pay extra for the extended batter, you also have to pay to have it installed. That's just plain robbery and a design flaw, since there's no reason it can't simply be plugged in like any other extended batter.
@Masoneer
@Masoneer 6 ай бұрын
You do not have to turn your head to see the screen, a quick glance down is no different than a glance up. It's just a re-mapping of your brain on where to look. You get used to it quickly in a Tesla. If it's that important to you, there's many many aftermarket options for Tesla instrument screens you can mount in front of the wheel, that should be able to put the camera feeds on. I've owned a Model 3 for 4 years and have done 65k miles with it. Not a single time has the screen gone out unless it was me manually restarting it, which is also almost non-existant. The car is designed to be able to drive just fine even if the screen is disabled/destroyed. The, "MCU" is not required to drive. You will still have your side mirrors, brakes, steering, throttle, active safety, etc. In the very rare case that the screen does go out, it will automatically re-boot itself. There are also backup gear selection buttons on the ceiling. I already responded to the 'plug and play' battery extender in a different comment. I understand your concerns, but hopefully this addressed some of them.
