My favorite thing about 2024 smash might be how mkleo somehow always found a way to achieve goat mode against Spargo and no one else.
@gerardoortega323Күн бұрын
Tbf he also had glimmers of goatness against others like Light and Zomba, but yeah it's mostly just Sparg0 😂

Not meaning to hate, but it was sad not seeing all of Europe's majors highlighted. Ufa and Regen were global majors but we're not mentioned. Just a bit sad at the neglect Europe faces.
@jinxeatsdustКүн бұрын
I think something important to mention is different people have different definitions for majors, and while LumiRank counts them as majors it's essentially the only thing I've seen with some sort of structure call it one (stuff like smashwiki and liquipedia don't list it on their major lists for instance) and I can understand why, it's kinda hard to be called a major when you don't even have a top 20 player at them (even though for this season both Leo and Gluto will probably be back to top 20) Idk, it sucks to omit them but I get why

Low key luminosity should give us the 2024.2 rankings and a full year ranking by taking the average score of a player in the 2024.1 and 2024.2

Sick vid, Rister! This was the year I really got into consistently spectating competitive ssbu, starting around Supernova, so it's super cool to see such a detailed yet watchable recap of everything interesting that went down. I agree mostly with your top 10. I don't really know enough about how the rankings work to know for sure, but the 6-10 range could potentially be shuffled around, and I think there might be some contention between Raru and Acola for 4th (which would be kind of crazy). Good job on this video!

@Literally_who8965Күн бұрын
The 4 Horsemen had such a weird year looking back on it. Acola did Acola things till the tail-end of the year, where other players started to catch up to him and with him only winning 1 major in the 2nd half. Miya had a period of getting "9th, 1st, 13th, 1st, 13th, 1st, 13th, 1st" (actual back to back Miya results lmao) while struggling in NA and farming Japan Sonix had the opposite case happen to him with him getting 2nd in every major expect 2 (lmao) of them. Sparg0 had a whole anime arc of having a "fall off" period, leading to him getting rank #9 to then making a massive comeback in the 2nd half to take #1 place he's wanted since the Miiverse days. (Also, highkey Light is top 5 rn and Leo will probably be top 10)
@Arctyx_XoКүн бұрын
Im sry to disappoint, but i can name you 10 players that will be ranked above leo
@brick-1234-d6wКүн бұрын
@Arctyx_Xoallow me Doramigi Raru Asimo shuton hurt tweek and the 4 horsemen as mentioned above
@Literally_who8965Күн бұрын
@brick-1234-d6w I don't think Shuton is above Leo tbh. Shuton has way worse losses (Lost in Sin a P tier and 3 Unranked losses in a B+), is less consistent than Leo, missing top 8 a few more times and has way worse top 10 wins, with Sonix being the only top 10 win he has
@Literally_who8965Күн бұрын
Also, Leo is 4-1 against Sparg0 in their h2h, which absolutely massive, has only 1 loss out of the top 50, which he won the runback and tournament in, which it happened, Has better top 10 wins overall and has only missed 1 top 8, throughout the whole season.

Corrin mains have been rising during 2024. 2 major wins by Shadic and many amazing top 8 placements in majors and supermajors by Shadic and Neo collectively. DieGorou on the rise as well in JP getting a lot of amazing player wins on Raru and Gorioka while placing well in several huge tournaments. Corrin was "supposed" to fall off after Smashcon 2023 but idk. Late in this season there was a slight drop between both Neo (due to lack of attendance) and Shadic (his later invitationals were just... unfortunate to say the least and school is kicking his smash practice rn). However, that's when DieGorou began rising up so I doubt Corrin will be lost in 2025. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another Corrin or two show out next year, at least somewhat.

For me the rankings are as follows: 1. Miya - won more than anyone else. 2. Sparg9- Massive improvement over the first half, but didn't win as much as Miya. 3. Acola - Only player who was rank top 10 in the first half of the year to not missed top 8. 4. Raru - Breakout star of the year, with Luigi no less. 5. Sonix - has not won a tournament on more than a year, came in LAST PLACE at Lumi2. 6. Light - best player on the US no question. 7. Shuton - Great season, dominating record on Sonix. 8. Tweek- one of his weakest season in recent times. 9. Doramigi - if not for Raru, would have been the breakout star. 10. Asimo - Proving that hard work pays off, won a major for the first time and accumulated notable wins.

Acola won less than Miya last season and was #1. Spargo while having slightly less wins has way better consistency and won the most important P tier.

“Shuton great season, dominating record on sonix” by that logic mkleo should be top 10 because he also had a great season and a dominating record on sparg0 who is better than sonix
