Lived there in the 1970's and 80's. I still miss it.

I lived in Slidell from 1979 till 1995. Moved to Picayune, Ms in 1995, but I'm still working in Slidell and drive back and forth every day. It's nothing like it was in the 70's and 80's. Slidell probably enjoyed its golden age during the 80's and 90's. Since the closure of the mall there is virtually no upper middle class shopping left. The town center is new, but the only really decent store there is Dillard's. The rest of the Town Center is little more than a glorified strip mall. Town Center is a far cry from what most people would call a leisurely or enjoyable shopping experience. She's right about Kenny's. It's probably the last place remaining where you can get a taste of what Slidell used to be like. Other than that if you are a cyclist the Tammany Trace is worth visiting. If you like Walmart there are two of them. Progress? Digress? I've said enough.

Everyone who goes to Slidell needs to eat some seafood at Kenny's.

Thank you for not mentioning the Airport Road area. We're happy up here and don't need any more people.
