Founder and CEO is Marissa Shipman (of theBalm Cosmetics) - a "beauty industry veteran who wanted to create a line of high-quality, affordable cosmetics that are trendy and iconic. Pretty Smart is a subsidiary of Renfield Manufacturing, a family-owned business, and the brand develops, manufactures, and distributes its products in-house." I think they are being pretty smart in putting their funds into formula and ingredients vs. the components (thank you!). I tried the eyeshadow and it isn't super pigmented, but looks great on and has staying power - just requires a bit more blendin. I tried the glowy primer and it seemed to make my foundation patchy, but will try again later. Feeling hopeful about this line and grateful that entreprenuers are still willing to come to the table new, affordable options for us in such a crowded space. Good for them!

Hi Tati! Just came to thank you so so much for covering a makeup line with a lower price point. I can’t be alone in finding everyday life has become crazy expensive. Finding a ‘want’ item like makeup that’s more affordable is a win. The ‘needs’ in life are costing more and more but there are necessary to live, makeup is nice to have.

What’s interesting is I still do liner everyday, and I *always* get compliments on my makeup. I’m trying to be better about doing what makes me feel pretty, and not what is trendy. And those types of compliments help validate it 💖

These are the makeup videos I love the most. The new cheep makeup cus that's all I can afford and i have to be choose very particularly cus I can only get one thing a month. Plus I love the tips and when you don't like something telling us what you would use yourself around the same price range. Thank you for the drugstore videos cus I understand not everyone is struggling financially like me cus im on disability but I try not to watch high-end videos im sorry I just have fomo and the one thing that helps with my mental disability is playing with makeup. Wow! I loved the glow of the foundation. Curious how it all wore throughout the day. I have a few brands that were much higher price points ( the Balm, Too faced, Wander Beauty) that use the cardboard packaging so this doesn’t bother me as long as the product is good.

I feel the same way about the hair pulled back. I find a stretchy band can sometimes be pretty because the hair still falls around your shoulders but stays out of makeup.
