Yup, Grace is fae... I know this video premiered like a year ago, but I am glad to finally watch someone obsess over cassie's books more than I do!! So, coming back to grace, I don’t know if ya have noticed that in the dark artifices Malcom actually says that a fae girl told him that Annabel died…. But we know now that in the chain of iron Malcom comes to know about Annabel… And who told him??? GRACE!!

Alastair is my favourite character, so I may be biased but I think one of the revealed secrets may be Elias's alcoholism and the trauma Alastair was forced to endure all those years, from Elias to Alastair's treatment at the beginning of his stay at the Academy. I'm also TERRIFIED of the fan theory that Alastair is going to die in this book or the next because unlike other fan theories this one has a lot of things that could definitely count as proof. I'm also worried / intrigued to see if any of the fan theories about Lucie or Matthew losing their Marks or Matthew dying / becoming a Downworlder go anywhere. I doubt them but there may be a little truth. But I'm mostly terrified of the Alastair dying theory, it has too much evidence for me to not freak out about it.

What an amazing theory! Yes I definitely agree that the truth behind Elias, and Alastair’s childhood could be revealed in this book - thanks for sharing this theory with me! I also really love his character, he’s grown on me quite a lot through rereading Chain of Gold for a second time, so yeah I’m equally as nervous for Alastair 😭😭

Great video, thank you! I’ve got so many theories buzzing around in my head, I hope you don’t mind if I share them here! Regarding the main love triangle, Cassie mentioned on her tumblr that one of the differences between this situation and the one in TID is that in the latter, everyone was trying to be considerate and behave correctly, while the same can’t be said in this case... considering that it’s confirmed that James will keep seeing Grace romantically during COI, I wonder if Cordelia will become disappointed in him, and grow closer to Matthew as a result, maybe even romantically, at least for a while? Cordelia doesn’t strike me as someone who would just wait for her sailor to come back home while he’s off gallivanting with other women, after all 😂 no matter how in love she might be, I think she has far too much self-respect for that. As for the serial killer, the fact that at least five shadowhunters are murdered kind of confirms that it has to do with Jesse’s resurrection; in The Midnight Heir, 5 was exactly the number of kills Tatiana requested of Magnus, if I remember correctly. And speaking of which, in TDA (spoilers!) Blackthorn blood was required to complete the ritual, but apparently, Jesse was the last of the Blackthorns; so I wonder if Tatiana might try to use a Lightwood instead, since Jesse does have Lightwood blood as well? Perhaps that’s the dangerous thing Thomas does in the book, offer himself as a sacrifice to protect the rest of his family (I don’t think Thomas will actually die, BTW). I fell like Tatiana would see it as poetic justice, killing her brother’s now ex-sickly child in exchange for her sickly child. And regarding the bracelet, I wonder if it functions in a manner similar to (spoilers!) the rune that was used to mind control Jace at the end of Fallen Angels? Lilith did say that it was important for the ritual that its participants perform it willingly, iirc, but that hadn’t stopped her from using Jace anyways, so I wonder if Belial is trying to do the same with James, considering that his situation seems to have the same clause? I guess demons would have a different concept of “willing” than human, lol. Sorry for the essay, I’ve actually tried to restrain myself and keep the brain vomit to a minimum, lol 😂

I have ADORED seeing all your theories and I didn’t know that about the love triangle, I think you definitely could be onto something with some MESSY behaviour (Will and Jem were basically like, do you want Tessa? No YOU should have Tessa!!) And I can definitely see Cordelia putting her foot down and not getting trodden on!! Also LOVE the link you made between the number 5 and The Midnight Heir, it’s 100% to do with resurrecting Jesse! I wonder if all resurrections need Blackthorn blood to work 🤷🏼‍♀️ But yes I love all these theories, and I’m so so happy you enjoyed the video!❤️

Yeah, I’m still wondering if the Blackthorn blood thing was just the unseelie king being the sexist pig we know he is, or if their is some kind of “magical” reason why only the blood of the father’s family will do... If the first hypothesis is correct, then Tatiana has plenty of Lightwood blood to go around, and she’s more than willing to spill it!

I KNOW. The thing is that in the Jem-Tessa-Will triangle they where so in love with each other ALL OF THEM that they where able to put their love ones first. Now in here, at least for the moment James thinks he's in love with Grace so from Mathew's POV that could be a little unfair. And from the outside that seems right to me.

hey!!! sorry I came to comment this video once again but I just understood what Cassie meant when she decided to name the italian shadowhunter Filomena! And I thought that maybe you might be interested hahahahah. I found out that I was wrong: the name Filomena is indeed a Greek name and she is indeed a character from a Greek myth, but I suppose that Cassie chose that name for another reason, strictly linked to our pandemic times. But let's take a step back: in Italy one of the most famous medieval writers is Giovanni Boccaccio. I'm not sure you know him though, unless you are a Literature/Foreign Languages major I guess? If you ask some Italians about him I'm sure they don't know about him either, but they must know for sure his most famous work: The Decameron. It's a book set during - guess what? - a plague! It's actually historically accurate, since there has really been a plague in Italy during the 1300s. Basically in this book seven teenagers (three lads and four ladies) decide to escape the plague by fleeing in a house in the countryside. But you may be wondering what all this has to do with the Italian shadowhunter: one of the girls in the Decameron is named Filomena! So you can clearly see that this name is connected to both literature and the pandemic we are living right now. This is really funny to me, and I feel quite stupid for not having understook this link before since I studied The Decameron less than a year ago! I feel like Cassie has given us an interesting inside joke :) If you don't have anything better to do, I suggest you to read The Decameron, it's really funny and interesting, personally one of my all time favourite literature pieces ever. hi! as an Italian, I feel personally involved in the new character's storyline, and I would like to add just a couple of things to the last part of your video, where you mention her. FACTS: she is from Rome and her name is Filomena. The name was revealed during the Lucca Comics, an Italian fandom convention which Cassie attended. (fun fact: pretty much all of the Italian fanbase as soon as the name was revealed felt so disappointed and strongly disliked the choice of it, as it is extremely old and not so pretty and suitable for a young girl as she is ----------> side note, of course not everyone dislikes this name and others have come to not dislike it but not like it either). Another fact: Cassie said it would have been a literature-related name, and everyone expected it to be an Italian-literature related name (actually way prettier names came to our mind when she revealed this information but uhm anyway...), this name actually comes from Greek Mythology. Filomena is a side character of a famous Greek Myth (I won't get into detail with this because this comment is already getting too long... sorry). The name is composed by two words, philos (friend) and menos (strenght) and the meaning of it is "the friend's strenght". (We can see there a possibile explanation of why she chose it but... did she really have to? C'mon Cassie. Thousands of prettier Italian/Greeks names or literature-related out there. Whatever. FAN THEORY: she is suspected to have a crush on Matthew, and to become his love interest afterwards (thus solving the whole James-Matthew-Cordelia triangle). The last thing that comes to my mind is that I read somewhere on Twitter that is hypotized that she will have a strong personality, so that the dynamics with her relationship with Matthew will be something like a "rivals to lovers". Speaking for the whole Italian fanbase, we can't wait to meet her! Excuse me for this essay!!! I just wanted to add as much things as possible! Also excuse me for any kind of grammar mistakes/typos, English is not my first language. I found your video extremely accurate and interesting, I loved it! (I was actually looking for something like this so thank you so so much!)

This can possibly seem really weird but I personally care a lot about how the name sounds. Surely from someone that is not a native speaker it might seem a perfectly normal name but for us that know how the language sounds it's easier to be critical! It happened to me many times to believe that some foreign name was so cute, until I found out that in its language was actually not popular at all! (sorry for this vent about the name, I'm probably stressing you😂) And yeah!! I'm so hyped for her and I'm happy other are as well! First of all, I LOVE all your videos, it's amazing!!! Thank you so much.💖💖 Sorry if my english isn't perfect but it's not muy first language. I have another theory about Sona for you. Is that she will die in childbirth and her baby will be adopted by Alastair. It comes from the Mechanical Princess family tree in which it's seen as Alastair and his partner of unknown name, in some unknown way, descends Emma. The theory says that this mysterious couple would be Thomas and the supposed baby, Alastair's brother, this way continuing with the Carstairs surname and Cortana reaching Emma's hands. Also, Cassie said that Jem altered certain things in the family tree to protect something, and the theory goes that one of those changes was to hide all this so that Alastair, Thomas and their baby could live in peace.

Omg this video was so interesting and it has gotten my brain working a lot more than usual. I was so excited to see you mention the theory that Grace might be fey or part-fey because I had been thinking of that for quite some time. Another theory I have is about Elias. When looking at the family tree that was released with Clockwork Princess, I found that there are years of birth and dead of everyone mentioned. And it's shown that for Elias Carstairs it is "1840 - 1894". Does that mean Elias was dead even before TLH began??? Is someone glamoured as Elias and has now taken his place?? Does it have something to do with Belial wanting to get hold of Cordelia? Quite possible the year was just a printing mistake and the real Elias is still alive as of 1903 but it's just a speculation i have. There's also no mention of a third Carstairs child in the family so it's quite possible that the baby Sona is pregnant with, won't survive. And this is accepted by basically the whole fandom by now lol. There was another fan theory that Alastair is going to die in this book or the next. And as if this wasn't enough, the theory says that Alastair could quite possibly die in Thomas' arms (based on a teaser Cassie had released) and that Thomas being heartbroken, joins the Scholomance and that he is the one who carved that sentence which Livvy finds in 'The Lost World' in Ghosts of the Shadow Market which reads "I did not choose this life" and the year 1904. I was terrified of this theory, or the vice versa, actually coming true so i again looked through the family tree. Alastair is said to die in 1928 and Thomas is said to die in 1915 (which is still too damn soon). So we can at least be glad that none of these two are going to die. But again, if there are chances of the years in the family tree being wrong, I am still terrified of this theory turning out to be true. (Edit: I think there was something on Tumblr where Cassie said not to trust the family tree or something along those lines, bcz obviously she couldn't have planned EVERYTHING that happens in the series like 8 years ago. So I don't trust the family tree anymore 🙃 and the theories could quite possibly be correct and I'm not ready for that)

Re: baby Carstairs, the family tree shows how the family name gets carried down so some characters are missing from it, particularly girls who might not carry their maiden name down with them through marriage - that could be why baby Carstairs isn’t on there! Cassie has said that we should trust it, but I couldn’t help doing a video about it anyway!!

I loved this video !! Came from Tumblr ! I honestly love James and I know it's not his fault but I just cannot read anything more abt grace and james ! And the fact that he will be unfaithful to Cordelia when that was literally her only request idk .. this is the reason I want james to break the bracelet by himself . If he doesn't and someone else breaks it it undermines his love and honestly I'd question if his love for Cordelia was even that strong and great . I think the only way be could redeem himself is breaking it by himself ..plus Cordelia I think will end the engagement by herself .I have a feeling . And I don't think she'll reciprocate Matthew's feelings ( if they are real ) and she will reject him but I think unlike will Matthew will try to be closer to her

Oh god. Im sorry my English is not the best. My mother language is actually Spanish. If I'm forgetting or missing something please let me know. I have this huge theory. Like Cordelia is going to get hurt or even almost die in here. DON'T GET ME WRONG I love her so so much but I think she will do something stupid in order to protect James (that whole oath thing) and that will be the point when James realizes his feelings for her but it might be to late. Also there's this huge theory that Alastair might not survive COI. Don't know why people want to kill my baby so soon but it has to do with the fact that he is not in the Carstairs family tree. I just can't wait anymore Part 2 of my theories. (IM SORRY IM JUST SO INSPIRED) 1. when I say that cordelia might get hurt, I think from the POV that James needs to volunteer for his grandfather to take his body soooo what if he do so in order to save her in some way. 2. James is not the killer. It's actually Jesse. He's some sort of soul that Tatiana can control so that suits for me. But why would Belial show interest in this. Maybe James feels, sees or believes he's the killer cause he has Jesse's last breath and that bond them together in some way. So if James is hurt and thinks he's evil, he will do LITERALLY ANYTHING in his power to stop. (Even surrender to his granpa) (btw Jesse doesn't know that he's being used) (ANNND this would be the deal between Tatiana and Belial at the end of COG) 3. James is going to feel awful for thinking he might be killing innocent people. But he's not going tell anyone (not even Mathew) and of course. The more he sets himself apart from his bestfriend and his fiance, the more this two are gonna bond together as friends. It's not like the WORST thing ever but just a reminder that all of this bad feelings together (guilt, despair, jealousy, loneliness, etc.) Can lead to a really bad decision. 4. Cassie actually said that there are going to be weddings but none of em is going to be Jordelia. That they might even break the engagement at some point (just don't get why yet) I do agree with the thing that cordelia is not going to sit still and look pretty. That's one of the reasons I love her so much. The last thing that I'm really worried about is MY BABY WILL HERONDALE. Now why you may ask? In the end of clockwork princess, when tessa is speaking of her life with Will she said that around 40 Will suffered from a injury or thing that nearly killed him. But at the end he recovered. NOW could that be the something awful that happens to James in order to finally break him apart? Cause he might not be sure about his feelings for Cordelia but he sure loves his family more that anything in the world.

I didn't even consider Cordelia getting hurt in COI, I just assumed she would make it through reasonably unharmed, but now I'm worrying a little more haha. I also agree that the possessed body could be Jesse/the idea that he might be able to get possessed in his half dead-half alive form still lives rent free in my mind, especially since he gave his last breath to save James (which might have been his talisman to the earth) - and omg WILL! I really really hope we find out about that injury in TLH, I'm sure Cassie meant it as a throwaway comment but I think now she could easily write it in to COI...
