Imo the best plot for a sequel would be Megamind struggling to be a hero. He's so used to being on the other side that he has no idea how to do it. After the Titan incident he finds out why Metro Man got so bored and tired, and keeping expectations up is beyond difficult as well as balancing his relationship with Roxanne. For a villain I'd choose a parody of Brainiac who is responsible for destroying Metro Man and Megamind's planets. This wouldn't be revealed until the last third of the movie. I'd have this villain be a genius like Megamind but on a whole other level, who tries to tempt and persuade megamind to join him and be evil again since he admires megaminds intellect. I'd also have Metro Man come out of retirement for one last adventure and team up with megamind to defeat the villain.

Someone made another video on this trailer who pointed out a very good point with the "Doom Syndicate". Megamind and Metroman are aliens. They didn't suddenly get their powers. They were born with them. Yet now there's a group of 4 that have cliche villain powers. And for those wondering, this movie was made by the TV department of DreamWorks.

Not trying to excuse it at all ,but the reason it looks like this is because they (for some reason) got dreamworks TV animation to do the movie instead of MOVIE animation. Not saying it's good it's just that's the reason it looks odd. But even a show would still try to look close to the movie, eg, both madagascar shows; they use the same models and people who sound like the officials. This is no excuse though.

No one is talking about how the plot makes no sense, like these old villains were never mentioned in the original movie(of course) but the doom syndicate are simply terrible villains, mega mind would smoke all of them easily and especially since they don’t know he’s against them. He could just shoot all of them with the dehydration gun and lock them in a vacuum chamber where no moisture could possibly reach them.

See, the thing is, Megamind is smart as all get out, but he’s also just downright silly. He never really matured as he grew up, unlike Metroman, due to his environment and circumstances. While I think typically the plot wouldn’t make sense in the way you’re saying it doesn’t, I could totally see Megamind just overcomplicating things and not realizing how easily he could get it over with. That being said that’s obviously not the case here, but I feel it would be if this was a higher quality production.

I don’t think it’d do any good. I feel like for whatever reason Dreamworks already had little faith in a Megamind sequel, especially since they are having the TV division handle it, and it’s going direct to streaming. If it were getting a theatrical release I feel like it would be possible, but it strikes me in such a way that I don’t believe they really care about Megamind 2 being a hit or not.

I especially love how you pointed out Megamind's loneliness and isolation in the first movie and how that plays into his character. Honestly, the replaced voice cast wouldn't have been such a problem if the actors are good at making impressions of said characters. The Penguins of Madagascar Nickelodeon show also did replace some VAs, except the replaced cast actually did a good job of replicating the character's voices. Also Megamind 2's animation leaves a lot to be desired, like it looks really bad compared to Dreamworks' previous non-theatrical media. All Hail King Julian was a Netflix TV spinoff, and that managed to look better than this movie.

I think that the best plot for Megamind would be that there would be 1 main villain and 1 mysterious villain. The main villain would be idk but the mysterious one would be a parody of eobard Thawne and that he was Megaminds biggest fan and one of his only because he admired his evilness and related to Megamind loneliness.This character would consistently sabotage Megamind throughout the movie and Megamind would fear him because he knows all of megaminds moves and strategies.He would also be one of the people who purchased some of megaminds stuff at the yard sale in button of doom so he would be advanced in tech. Metroman would also eventually make a return but the mystery villain would be the only one who is not afraid to go hand to hand with him because he also knows so much about metroman.

I really like how many times you mentioned the theme of loneliness and abandonment because i feel like this is something extremely important for his character that ppl often leave outt or do not understand how actually important this is. As smn who grew up disabled, homeschooled, neurodivirgent, queer and overall having the weird kid written all over my face, megamind is one of the most important representations for me and i relate to him so much. I feel so dissapointed but not suprised by the sequel because themes like this arent exactly popular and lets face it, hard to handle, which doesnt apologize the absolute butchering of megamind in the trailer. I honestly cant even say what the target audience is for this sequel, ppl who grew up with megamind are already adults and want something little bit more mature like for example the Puss in boots movie, and new gen either dont know or cant relate to megamind if they didnt see the original movie. With the point of the original movie being how anyone can change the course of their life, i.e. how Megamind discovered he could be a good guy despite never having the change to previously, if they treat the Doom Syndicate villians as simple irredeemable villains, this sequel will truly miss the core message of the og film. At the very least, if Megamind doesn't somehow try to help "redeem" the other villians, which i have little hope this film will try to, this one's a dud in my eyes.

How I would write the Doom Syndicate: A group of supervillains who were inspired by Megamind. They see him as an idol. When they found out that Megamind had a change of heart they were infuriated by his decision. Out of frustration, plans were put in motion to change Megamind back to his evil self. They decided to create a device that turns anyone evil. Realizing that turning Megamind back to his evil ways can’t be done with ease, a countermeasure was developed. They decided to pretend to be reformed individuals. That way they could get on Megamind’s good side and trick him into doing something that will give them the chance to use the device.

My take on the second movie would be this: Plot: 2 years after Tighten's defeat, and with Megamind being the hero, Megamind has finally understood the emphasis Metro man went through when he was the hero, he knew the pressure of hero work, and it was something Tighten metioned to him before “being a hero is for losers, it's work work work, 24/7 and for what?” Megamind had no choice but to go through it. Sooner or later, Metro city is being attacked again by a random villian. This villian is a parody to Darksied who will attack metro city because he seeks the power called the Nova Stone (parody to the anti-life equation), the stone is hidden somewhere below the city, he wanted to use it in order to destroy the world and create a new one teeming with beings that will forever be slaves to the one they call “Red Doom”. Megamind discovers who this villian is and decided to get help from Metro man, although Metro man retired, Megamind needed a super human to help him against Red Doom, Metro man still declines the offer, but decided to give him some of his tips on how to destroy the alien, one of them was “go for the stone first”, and in the climax, Megamind confronts Red Doom in the middle of the city which has a huge crater left at the center of the city, during their fight, Megamind ended up wounded, while he finds something glowing beneath him, realising that it's the stone Red Doom seeks, he picks up the stone and decides to use it against him, Red Doom perished, Metro city is saved from that monster. In the end, Megamind decided that he will keep on going to be a hero and will live on the be Metro city's protector

We asked for Megamind 2 and instead they gave us Microthonk. The graphics not only haven't improved, but actually look worse due to poor framing and animation. The writing looks like it's going to be complete dog water written by someone who's entire understanding of the first movie comes from the equivalence of reading a summary of the events off wikipedia, and the new villains look boring and generic and contradict Megamind's backstory. The voice actors not returning could just be a result of the reduced budget, but Id like to believe they took one look at the script, went "ew", and walked away. The one redeeming factor this movie has that I can think of is that the idea of the sequel being about Megamind struggling to fit into the role of the city's hero is actually pretty good, and I hate that this decent idea is probably about to get completely butchered as a result of soulless corporate writing that exists only to capitalize on a market of pre-existing fans and not at all out of any love and/or respect for the original source material. Seeing this movie trailer doesn't exactly inspire hope for the animated series to be any good either.

Imo the sequel should’ve been different for example: Act 1- had another one of megaminds race land on earth and be a villain. They try to recruit megamind but they find out he’s good so they don’t like that and they try to destroy earth. Let’s call the villain Starmind Act 2 - megamind always tries to be metro man. But he isn’t being HIMSELF anymore, he’s trying to be a hero but he’s trying to be metroman, not megamind. Act 3- megamind finds his true self and finishes starmind to the death. End.

Judging by the trailer, it kind of feels like they're riding off of the success of the first film and using the name of Megamind to make something that is generic in both writing and animation solely for the new generation of kids. They didn't care enough about this project to make something theater-worthy. They didn't even care enough to follow through with the original character arcs. It feels watered down. The doom syndicate themselves, despite not making sense for existing in the first place, feel so boring. There's nothing about them that makes me want to see a fight between them and Megamind. They honestly just look and feel like Miraculous Ladybug villains. To me, it's not so much a sequel, but something for parents to keep the kids distracted for a little while, regardless if it's good or not. Easy money, low effort. And yes, it's a children's movie, but just because it's for a younger demographic doesn't mean it has to be so dumbed down. The first one clearly wasn't. Again, this is just my takeaway of the trailer, but it's not looking good.
