It was Future Flash warning Bruce telling him Lois is the key because if she dies Superman will go bad as in the dream sequence he says "She was my everything, and you took her from me" Also, the flash part wasn't a dream. The Injustice universe in BvS is an alternate version of the Injustice in the videogames and comics, as in similar yet different. The comics are their own infinte version of universes, just like the tv shows, just like the movies, disregarding something that is literally a plot device in superhero movies is asinine at best.

I found out that "the paint to signal Superman" was actually done in the comics during the Death of Superman arc. A kid used a can of paint sprayed an S on the ground hoping Superman would see it. Batman knows martial arts. He knows how to use his opponents power against them plus with the gas affecting superman he should be able to handle him with his skills. So when I saw the fight it made sense when batman was holding his own for a while.
