SPOILER!!!! for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" (e.g. the sequel, in theatres now): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ at the climactic wedding scene, when Beetlejuice dancing with his bride-to-be Lydia, he says (or sings, I forget which) a line about all the loves (or was it lovers?) of his life & afterlife. And then an image fades over the background of characters, one at a time, showing the "loves" that he just referred to. First is his ex-wife (Monica Belluci's character), then Lydia, then finally a dog. I didn't understand who the dog was, and it's been on my mind ever since I saw the movie. Was the dog a never-before-mentioned pet that he had & loved in life? Was it a pet/friend he had in the cartoon TV series that the writers decided to canonize into the movies? Was it perhaps a joke that Beetlejuice had a canine lover? (He did say "I'm into some nasty shit.." or something along those lines when telling the story of his wedding night, after all.) Well I think you folks have answered the question for me! The dog shown as one of the "loves of his life" must surely be the dog that caused the Maitland's fatal car crash! I could even tell it was a small type of mutt-breed in the sequel wedding scene, and that fits with what the dog from the car crash scene looks like! However, I cannot find any cannonical connection between the dog and Jane. That seems to be purely fanfiction.

It's not really an Easter egg. It's also very inconsistent. They had said his name several times before those last three and it did nothing, apart from the very first three. The fact that they hadn't said it directly in a row doesn't matter because the first three times weren't in a row, either. Then, they sinned the inconsistency of the rule, despite following it inconsistently themselves. A "sick" joke would've been if they actually put some thought into it beyond just "let's make Beetlejuice appear and then make him disappear," which is such an obvious joke that literally any KZbinr could come up with it. Not personally a huge fan of Community, but at least they actually put some time and effort into that joke when they did it.

I'm gonna be a major nerd here, cuz if there were ever a type of movie where film logic sins don't cut it, it's with Beetlejuice. - The store is called "MAITLAND Hardware". Adam doesn't have to wait for business hours to go in, it's his store. They're on vacation. -The secretary literally says right after the sin about their appearance, "this is what happens when YOU die; that's what happens when THEY die, it's very personal." Adam and Barbara were wet upon returning home but didn't know they were dead. - The custodian tells them there is a such thing as death for the dead. We see death, being eaten, being imprisoned, employment, using magic or special skills, or being confined to an area in the real world. Paints a very interesting picture of the afterlife. Why wouldn't there be currency? Or a way for Beetlejuice to manipulate things despite being imprisoned? He's supposed to be dangerous because he's powerful, cuz he's long dead, and a nuisance. - How did Juno almost leave if she had an appointment... time probably passes differently between areas of the netherworld itself for all we know. Adam and Barbara were in that waiting room for like 20 minutes - and 3 months passed in the real world. The idea of time dilation between the living world and another dimension (possibly more than 1) really doesn't make sense? - Lydia and Otho can see the book because they're more in tune with these things. Otho literally summoned the Maitlands in corporeal form. The book also says people "won't" see the dead - a specific point. - - -

@@sabserab No, as far as I know the old man is just some jerk who runs the barber shop next door. Because it's so early he has no customers yet and is sitting outside. Adam dismisses him cuz he's probably been dealing with this guy for years who'll run on forever unless he just dips. but thanks :)

Why does everyone forget the rule where he states that his name "3 times must be spoken, unbroken"?... That's why you can say his name with full sentences in between and it doesn't count
@AviDoro2 ай бұрын
That was only in the musical. It wasn't in the film. In the film he urged Lydia to say his name one more time after she'd said it twice even though she said several words between his name. "It must be spoken, unbroken" was a line from Say My Name in the musical and the rule was changed. Lydia said his name more than three times throughout the song but never said it more than twice in a row.
