Hugely underrated film. And genuinely Will Smith's best performance because he, for once, isnt playing a cockier version of himself. Its a 90s film id gladly watch EVERY time its on tv..

@stylis666
@stylis666 4 жыл бұрын
@@tomraines6554 That's pretty naive. Information has been the weapon of choice since forever and instant cameras and the ability to record sound should have given everyone the instant idea to either use it or at least expect it to be used. Before recording devices it was witnesses and contracts and physical spies and traitors. Before this movie, computers and cameras and microphones had been getting smaller for a couple of decades. And there's a couple of hundreds of sci fi books from that century and even from the century before that, all of them already predicting all of it. If anything, it failed to get the tech right, assuming the audience would never learn how computers and cameras work in an age where every phone already had a camera. Thanks to that failure, this is a dated movie and a 5 year old knows more about the tech than the screenwriters did. Prophetic, my ass. Although, I would love to have that camera in the clothing store :p

The irony of movies like this is at the time we were afraid of a future where our every movement is tracked and recorded by the government. Now that the future is here we realized the government doesn't need to track and record our every move because we do that ourselves and many people's biggest fear is that no one is watching.

@@dr.braxygilkeycruises1460 There's no "Nope" here, I never implied it was the first, I said it was ONE OF the first. And like many others who have seen Enemy of the State but not Six Degrees of Separation, well, one of the two was more popular than the other, lol. But yea, it isn't as though I am wrong here, so the "Nope" is a little much. There is the fact that Six Degrees grossed 6.4 million at the box office and Enemy of the state grossed 250.6 million, just saying. If you wanna go around "noping" people, at least make sure you "nope" something they actually said or implied. And that it makes sense.

Funny thing is, I've seen the movie a few times and it never really seemed like a Christmas movie. Even with all the myriad Christmas references helpfully pointed out by CinemaSins, the movie still doesn't feel that Christmassy to me. Ah, according to production notes it was mostly shot in the winter but they had "beautiful weather" throughout. So that'll be why it doesn't *look* much like winter, I guess :)

@nhcq I think Die Hard feels more like a Christmas movie to me because the set-up depends on it being Christmas, i.e. the office Christmas party is why the characters are gathered on one floor of an otherwise mostly empty building. Plus, of course, stuff like Alan Rickman's wonderful "Ho Ho Ho" :)

The half bottles of wine are wine that has spoiled. Restaurants that sell wine by the glass will typically have a fair amount of these. So, instead of pouring it down the drain, it's still perfectly fine to cook with, so it's used on the saute station and in meal prep. This is common practice at 4 and 5 star restaurants. I would not recommend drinking it though. If the wait staff says it's spoiled, chances are good it'll taste like vinegar. Which, it does.

The game show the guy was watching was an actual game show where 3 contestants who were in debt competed to remove their debt. They all started with the same dollar amount in the negative (which was an average of their 3 debt dollar amounts), and answered trivia questions to reduce their debt and try to get to 0. That’s why they were all in the negative and close to the same dollar amounts. It wasn’t because they all suck at trivia.

This is my favorite Tony Scott movie and a lot of what has been predicted here has come to pass in the intervening years since it came out. I like how the Cinemasins narrator keeps mentioning Christmas movie whenever there are references to it in the movie- the irony is that this came out on Thanksgiving in the US and Boxing Day in the UK in 1998.

I disagree with so many of these mate. Like the nature reserve employee DID see the cops at the park, however he never knew the car type, year, manufacturer because it was underwater, no one in their right mind walks passed a crime scene where the fuzz are crawling and thinks, "Oh maybe it's a well known celeb or public figure!" FFS mate! Checking and reloading a weapon seconds before any potential action kicks off is a standard move by military standards, ANYTHING can occur to your weapon in the 15 minutes leading up the event, check check and then check again, it becomes second nature. Habitual. Also 5:15 you've CLEARLY never had any dealings with lawyers or solicitors! ANY opportunity to sell you their services is their game. In 1998 when this was released there was no internet really and business cards were the social media networking of it's time, those would have been branded about more then pictures cards in a game of high stakes poker mate! I think you need to wind yer neck in on this one, as a motion picture it's pretty robust.

My biggest sin in this movie not mentioned is where Jon Voight says “I’ve seen killers go free because the eye witness was an alcoholic, I’ve seen sex offenders who couldn’t be touched because the victim was a call girl” so his plan was to discredit Dean before he even came out with the tape so people would think he is lying because he has no credibility.. what he said is true but I believe credibility is only an issue when you don’t have actual video proof of the crime hahaha… still a very good movie, I’m a big Gene Hackman fan love his movies and this one is great

98: the gameshow was called DEBT (a jeopardy knockoff) and before the game began they would average out the customers various debt backstory amounts and start at the same negative score. So round 1 you'd always see the contestants start with -7500 to -10000 just to have a nice round start point

Hahah, the part about the stressed out cat actually reminds me of a cat we had named Max, R.I.P Max. He was the chillest cat I have ever seen, literally nothing shook that cat. His brother from another mother was the exact opposite, compete and total scaredy cat. Used to cry for Max to come and escort him because he was afraid to leave his room alone. Max had a dog (who was luckily on a leash) come within inches of biting his face off and he didn't so much as flinch.

On this movie? That's a sinning for you, mate. You're missing out. Just below you is a comment about the live action remake of Mulan. Now there's a movie you can just watch by checking the sins (if and when they do it) and people's criticism of it and not miss a thing. And in the meanwhile I'm left with the unanswered question why the movie was made and why people watched it who don't tear down films for a living.

Brill just had the chips on him, as he explains later he’s hypoglycemic and needs to eat often, I think he even buys the same chips when they stop at the store. Point is he didn’t bring it to block the tracers, he just happened to have it, which is why he dumps the chips out. I mean you could just carry around a piece of aluminum foil if you’re going to do that.
