so i just want to let you know bc i have done alot of research on on this as i have experienced it alot myself as a armor main (2k hours). damage is based on armor values, higher armor spots take less damage, its not just basic math like the game leads you to believe. the lav 6 is shown alot in this video, thats bc it has VERY high armor for a ifv, similar to a brad (can bounce lats sometimes lmao). and also, when shooting specific parts of vics (ie like the top of a logi/transport cab) if it dosent have anything behind it for the "pen" to do more damage it wont take the full damage.

You might know how armor works, but AT functions differently than vehicle weapons. As long as you pen, you deal fixed damage based on AT type and vic multiplier. Only indirect hull shots through tracks, wheels or spaced armor reduces or prevents hull damage. Also, bounces for the most part only happen for LAT on tanks at steep angles. LAT pens most vehicles from all directions at most all angles. Feel free to recreate any over the above shots on squad-armor.com and show me how these shots would have bounced or should have different damage from the one shown in the video. I'm genuinely curious!

Fixing AT weapons is way more complex than you think. The real issue is how Squad handles a vehicle's armor, which is really poorly executed (idea was meh, but execution is terrible). Squad attempts to fake an angle-calculation, which is what causes such inconsistent results, along with some parts of vehicles not being considered part of the HP, but still able to trigger AT rounds. I'd prefer if they added crew compartments, engine, and ammo - then made them propertional to the actual sizes. For AT they should on impact calculate total thickness of armor, simply check distance from impact to said internal compartments, Then use that resulted range to determine if it penatrates or not, no need to complicate damage models, just do a check for area hit and damage. Yes it's a lot of work, but AT's feel shit because the armor is shit. And for the love of god.... Return arming distances to their actual ranges, and make the difference HEAT rounds do their actual penatration. Right now Squad makes all LAT and HAT do the same damage and arm at the same 2 ranges, outside of the NLAW last I checked. ^This sucks ass and does not promote intelligent use of AT kits.

@@gokudo-cf5pt Well yes, that would be pretty fun, though it would need a little variation for realism/ balance. I'd also like a rework on the sounds AT weapons make in general. They're so "wooshy" or to much bass in the sound, when it really should be a loud "bang". - Explosions don't sound all that "bassy", unless you are already at a safe distance, even then they have a significant "crack" to the sound. I know it's pretty tough simulating the sound without being able to break the sound barrier in headsets/ speakers, but I've seen much better in other games. Squad's explosions generally sound to "bassy", don't get me wrong.. it needs some bass, but it needs a sharper node to simulate the front of the shockwave.

Tnx for doing this. I wanted to make similar video for a long time but in the end i delated all material... but from now on i think i should save it and upload as comiplation. Some of the stuff i encountered was much crazier like indestructable tanks that can take 10+ hits from tandem and atgm and still continue working, light vehicle that dont take demage at all, clear hits that should be detracks or ammo racks but do nothing etc etc... Sure some of it can be due to high ping or server issues but it happens so often that we have to come to obvious conclusion IT'S A GAME'S FAULT

hahah that sniper at 2:55 always plays marksman or sniper, i asked him to switch off while i was SLing and he just.. didn't... 3:22 so that's why whenever I take a humvee i can watch the rocket slowly fly into my head and shrug it off

In the second clip at 0:10 , you deflected your rocket off the top plate armor. Thats why it didn’t explode. The rest of these clips, I can’t explain lol

Thought so too at first. But if you check the ASLAV against M2 HEAT at that angle on squad-armor.com, you'll see it's practically impossible to hit anywhere that wouldn't pen. I've seen bounces, but they look a bit different...

@motivated2die not really, but bug reporters have inferred it plenty of times. if an open top vehicles gunner is desynced, your bullets travel through where the person appears to be. also why helis sometimes tank apfsds and missiles

unfortunately nothing can be changed until armor angle and values get fixed on vehicles. AT would be too busted against vehicles if they are fixed/buffed while the vehicle calculations still suck ASS

The hitreg in this game is broken Sometimes when you try to machinegun the enemy he survives. Not to mention the anti cheat doesn't actually anti cheat because you can read some very insane memory. For the hitreg for example you fire the rocket > (rocket lands on the side of the BMP under the tracks) > counts as ammo rack but the ammo rack is above this is maybe because of the mod but not too sure. Hitreg can count vehicle parts first instead of the HP if it hits the turret it will only reg the turret but not the main hp is this intended? No idea prolly

The 50 player role restriction really needs to go. It's clearly stupid and a quick fix As for barrels they should be a damageable component. Would be cool for the tank to still be able to shoot coax but have to hop out to hammer the tube back into shape

Same with War Thunder when damage are useless if you didn't get explosiv enought or with Arma Reforger when you need 6 bullets to kill someone ( and one more to finish him). Realist games dev are stupid some times.

I think the game is either completely fucked or theres some sort of damage pass through system where if the shell doesnt connect with the crew or a major component its reduced. Highly unlikely. Squad ruined the game when they added all the ICO updates and patches, since then the game hasnt had a good update with no bugs.

If you think there's something wrong with these clips just get off the kit already You're just hitting all the tyre, engine, and turret hit pools while thinking vics only have on hit pool lmao. Not even talking about something a bit more nuanced like hat damage modifier (something you'll have to google no doubt)
