Great video !You should show how to make your phone alarm turn on or off based off an automation ! I recently found out how to control the toggle switches of my alarm switch on my phone completely automated through home assistant! Never having to toggle my alarm on or off has been god send 😊

I'm not sure I understand the use case? My phone alarm isn't something I ever have to mess with. It goes off at one time m-f, and another time sat & sun. What benefits does this offer? An interesting thought, just need to figure out the practicality of it. (I'm all about the "why"). Thanks for watching!!

@@fasthowto good question. Well for eg: let's say you have a weird schedule like working one day then the next off then maybe working 4 days then off so an inconsistent schedule. I have set up an actionable notification through home assistant that ask me if I'm working . Then if I say yes it will set up 2 alarms on my phone without me forgetting to set it up for let's say 6:30 am and 7:00 am then let's say the next day I'm off it will cancel the alarms set from the previous night and not set an alarm on my speakers.

@@fasthowto one issue I always ran into was I'd either forget to set my alarm or deactivate my phone alarm if I was off so it would wake me up too early or to late. With this automation it does it for me so I never have to set or turn off an alarm ever again. If you have a steady schedule then that wouldn't be that useful but since my schedule is inconsistent this is great ! Also the fact that it sets up 2 different alarms is great so I never forget :)

@@fasthowto I don't work 5 days then off every 2 weeks my schedule changes different hours and sometimes I do nights so this solves the need to set or dismiss alarms based on my different days off or on

Maybe I missed it but anything for using a temp sensor to calculate the average and the thermostat will adjust.
@fasthowto5 ай бұрын
You can write something to do that, I'm sure. I don't have that issue since the Honeywell T9 I use has multiple remote sensors, so I can either tell it what one room to pay attention to, or I can select as many rooms as I want (2, 3, 4, all, whatever) and it'll average the selected rooms together and aim for that target temp. It really is a great thermostat, and for those people with only a single zone HVAC system, I can't recommend it enough. I'm sure it's great for multi-zone use as well, but for single-zone, it feels like "cheating". LOL Thanks for watching!

Great video. I‘m curious what you are using for freezer sensors? I tried an Aqara Zigbee device and despite having always powered Zigbee devices close, I couldn’t maintain a connection.
@fasthowto Жыл бұрын
I am, in fact, using an aqara temp/humidity/pressure sensor. They have been in there for a little over a week now, and no issues yet.

@@fasthowto I have the freezer plugged into a Zigbee smartplug so a repeater couldn’t be closer. The battery is good at room temperature. I guess my freezer is acting like a Faraday cage.
@fasthowto Жыл бұрын
@@fredaker8353 that's quite possible. I've read about guys that have taken apart some of the sensors to extend the sensor wires, like for the water sensor. Could probably do something similar with the antenna wires?
@fredaker8353 Жыл бұрын
@@fasthowto since we are using the exact same sensor, you have given me the confidence to try again. I changed the location in the freezer and moved it even closer to the smartplug. Sensor is down to -14.1C and still in contact. I‘ll keep my eye on this for a week.
