Hi, Thank you for the video. I am currently suspended from working awaiting a disciplinary hearing for leaving work and going home during the work day and returning to work after a few hours, I have been charged with absconding and I think this video helped me understand that the charges are incorrect.

In a business's disciplinary policy, what will u say about the consequences of desertion as well as the consequences of AWOL. Also, the steps regarding absconsion should be stated too right?

I have a disciplinary guide available where I include my recommended disciplinary sanction for unauthorized absenteeism (AWOL), as well as my recommendation for absconsion (desertion). You can find that here: fourieemploymentrelations.com/downloads/quick-disciplinary-guideline-for-employers-managers/ I do not necessarily think the steps for absconsion needs to be included in a disciplinary policy, but I believe it is valuable to have a guide for managers to know how to deal with the situation if it arises.

My employer wanted to charge me with absconding, but it was actually unauthorised absence
