Hi there True Gardener 💚 I am curious as to how to get the trunk smooth like yours. Do I have to peel off the tough husky parts to expose the beautiful trunk? Also I have a beautiful young triple bottle. All of the trunks stand very upright. As it ages do they sort of peel away from each other causing that more open habit or does it depend on how they were originally planted and grown together?
@TrueGardenerАй бұрын
Great questions yes, I peel mine off because they produce fronds so slowly I only have to do it about twice a year. And yes, you’ve got it as your tree matures. The upper canopy will push away from itself, causing it to really bow out as long as there’s nothing to each side, keeping it constrained and pushing it together.

I’ve been loving the triangle palms in many of your previous videos, especially when you put a red backdrop behind or around them. Would love to see triangle palm as plant of the week. I’m currently looking for some for my backyard and am not finding any that look like yours. What nursery do you get such nice triangle palms from and what do you ask for (size, frond color)? Thanks.
@TrueGardener7 ай бұрын
yes, I love triangle palms they make a perfect backdrop to a tropical landscape. I don’t know what coast you’re on. However, you can get them from Palm City Palms Ed Miller places down south carry them don’t be afraid to get them in a smaller size like a seven or 15 gallon they grow fast enough to make an impact I tend to look for a silvery color they come commonly more greenish silver but that’s more important to me than the size.

I have 3 golden Malayan coconut palms. Which feed do you Recommend? Also my favourite other palms are Satakentia palms. Teddy bear palms. Adonidia palms and dypsis Pembana palms. I love Bougainvillea and Tecoma Stans and Blue Plumbago to add to the Landscape.. Bottle Brush callistemon are great if growing as standard trees just like to Tecoma Stans. When planting golden Malayan Dwarf Coconut palms how long does it take for roots to settle in?
@TrueGardener7 ай бұрын
hello Gary I use Palm gain 8-2-12 slow release granular fertilizer on my coconuts and they love it. You can also use a Palm nutritional spray monthly or by monthly. They’re so great to green up and help root in the tree.

The coldest conditions they can handle our 32 and that’s for a very short period of time. I have a lot of northern friends who keep them in pots and move them in during the cold snaps that might be the safest bet.

thank you, Wesley. I really appreciate that. I understand wanting something that doesn’t belong in your area. I’m contemplating doing that with the lipstick palm that I’ve been eyeing up putting in a pot on wheels and just moving it in during the cold snaps it’s hard to be reasonable when it’s your garden, isn’t it? I bought a bottle palm from lowes a few years ago. Its doing great, but it could be a spindle palm.. how can I tell the difference between a spindle palm and a bottle palm? Tia
@daisie13orso2 ай бұрын
My Bottle is in my patio and too many weeds grow through my pavers. I used Roundup and I think I damaged the palm but hoping I will not lose it altogether. Evidently, they are very sensitive to chemicals in the ground nearby.

do you experience staining of masonry with Souther Ag nutritional spray? Also, watering? I planted my triple bottle about 5 weeks ago, love love love him. Currently still watering him on a dip line daily, although I just cut down the volume of the drip. What are your watering recommendations! LOVE your videos....I think I have most of them men orized by now!!!!
@TrueGardener5 ай бұрын
hello Diane, the areas that I spray the nutritional spray are not near pavers or the house however, I did spill some on my driveway when mixing it a few months back and it rinsed away cleanly with no residue so I can’t be certain, but I’ve not had any issues with it so far. As for the bottle palm “ congrats. They are awesome aren’t they “ if you’re near my area of Florida with this heat, I would continue watering once Daily a good saturation in the early morning hours is ideal to keep the stress down through the summer days heat. once it’s established that big base holds water well and can live fine on a 2 to 3 day week watering cycle.

My bottles frond tips are yellowing. What could be the culprit?
@TrueGardener7 ай бұрын
it could be many things if you’re able to get your soil tested that’ll tell you exactly what’s going on in the soil and what nutrients to add however, commonly it’s magnesium manganese deficiency. The nutritional Palm spray is a relatively inexpensive product and that might help resolve your problem so I would try that first.
