I have a spring not marked red or black..my question is when you wind spring do you turn spring inward or outward to expand it?. (according to its winding) it is one spring system thank you!!

If you grab a spring and look at it so the cone where it gets bolted to the spring bracket is touching the ground and the set screws upwards. Look at the end of the coil and whichever direction it’s facing it’ll be the opposite. Ex: 🌀 that’s going to the right, it’ll be on the left side.

@@NeuftheGoofa good trick is make a circle with your thumb and index finger. Your right hand will resemble the "right-hand wound" spring which is on the left side of your door and vice-versa

If a 12-volt winch can lift between 1500 and 10,000 lb. Why does a garage door opener need a spring to assist it?.
@Kbock1297 ай бұрын
While a 12-volt winch may be capable of lifting heavy loads like 10,000 lbs, garage doors typically use torsion springs to assist in their operation for several reasons: 1. Counterbalancing: Torsion springs are used in garage doors to counterbalance the weight of the door. The springs store and release energy as the door opens and closes, reducing the amount of force required to lift the door manually or by an electric opener. 2. Smooth operation: Torsion springs help to provide a smooth and controlled movement of the garage door. They allow the door to open and close evenly without jerking or straining the opener mechanism. 3. Safety: Torsion springs help to prevent the garage door from slamming shut due to its weight. They assist in controlling the speed at which the door closes, reducing the risk of accidents or damage to property. 4. Longevity of the opener: By using torsion springs to assist in lifting the garage door, the strain on the electric opener is reduced. This can prolong the lifespan of the opener and prevent premature wear and tear on the motor. 5. Cost-effective solution: Torsion springs are a cost-effective and efficient way to assist in lifting garage doors. They provide the necessary counterbalance without the need for a more complex and expensive lifting mechanism. Overall, while a winch can lift heavy loads, torsion springs are specifically designed for the unique requirements of garage door operation, providing balance, smooth movement, safety, and cost-effective assistance in lifting and lowering the door.
